Shazam 1 was actually good too. Good family movie and message behind it. Superhero BIG joint in a way.

This one didn't even look interesting to be honest. A cameo of him showing up at the end of Black Adam would have made MUCH MORE SENSE but we know how Rocky fukked that up.
Yeah, nothing appealed to me and I was like thecoli's first Shazam proponent from day zero. It was very good and delivered. I still haven't seen the sequel.

Gonna be on HBO max in 3 weeks. That's when I"ll peep.

The only redeeming quality of Ant Man 3 was Majors as Kang and usually a good villain makes a comic movie. Somehow he couldn't make it more than mid.

TBF i kind of feel indifferent about rushing out to see most movies. Mario movie, spiderverse, flash are the ones i want to see this year.

Still haven’t seen wakanda, avatar, top gun, RRR, and not rushing out to see another john wick even though I’d probably enjoy it. Movies just don’t hit like good tv these days for me.

It would be a step in the right direction if Marvel looked at this situation and said “Well shoot, perhaps we really do need to evolve our approach to filmmaking.” :leon:

It’s a shame that DC is sucking ass as well at the moment because that competition could’ve added even more fire on the side of Marvel. I think they’ll end up bouncing back with GOTG3 and despite all the pump faking damage control these past couple months, they’ll probably just go back to their old ways like nothing happened.
Well guardians was supposed to come out years ago so it could be an anomaly to their recent flab era. It's the only one I want to see until X-Men tbh.

Hopefully DC turns it around once the gunn era truly begins after these leftovers

Rawr! Rawr! Like a $38.5M Dungeon Dragon: Weekend Box Office Results (Mar. 31-Apr. 2)

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, the $150M, debuted in first place with $38.5 million, coming right in the middle of the $35 million - $40 million projections. Now me, personally, I had no interest in this and I went and saw John Wick 4 on Friday. It did do $5.6 million in Thursday previews which was 67% higher than Shazam 2's $3.4 million and juuuuust behind Scream 6's $5.7 million. Where audiences f****** with it? Yeah. It got an A- CinemaScore and a 93% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. It definitely looks like it has a likable cast from Chris Pine to Michelle Rodriguez, Sophia Lillis and Regé-Jean Page. Oh yeah, we can't forgot '90s and early aughts heart-throb, Hugh Grant. :dame:

So that debut is a good result but that $150 million production budget is mighty hefty and fortunately, the movie was also able to make $33 million internationally. So right now it's $71.5 million running totals is already 47.7% of that budget. We'll see if it's a franchise starter. :yeshrug:

Following up. Last week's number one debut was John Wick: Chapter 4, taking second place with $28.2 million. That was only a 61.8% decline, which is impressive when you consider that a lot of the PLF screens were lost to Dungeons and Dragons. Like I said earlier, I went and saw it and it was excellent. Body's getting hit by cars, flipping in mid-air like helicopter propellers and getting gunned down on the way down? :ahh: It's now made $122.8 million domestically and $122 million internationally. Basically 50/50 splits. And that's fitting of John Wick. Whether he's in NY, Paris or Osaka, he don't miss. :wow:

Debuting in third place was His Only Son with $5.5 million. Have you heard of this movie? Cuz I haven't. What's it about? "After being called on by the Lord, Abraham's faith is tested on his three day journey to sacrifice his son." So it's another faith-based movie at the box office that we've had a string of recently, following The Chosen and Jesus Revolution. It got an A CinemaScore so the Lord's message is still strong amongst moviegoers. Oh and it's also the the first nationwide theatrical release to be crowdfunded.

Down one spot from last week was Scream 6. Taking in another $5.3 million. It's running! Total is now 98.2 million already $16.6M more than Scream 5's total of $81.6 million. It's worldwide running total of $147.6 million has surpassed Scream 5's $138.8 million run. It's on the verge of passing Scream 2's $101.3 domestic total. It'll become the third movie in the Scream franchise to make $100 million domestically.

Rounding out the top five was Creed III with another $5 million. It's thiiiiiis close to making $150 million with a running total of $148.5 million, which makes it the highest grossing movie in the Rocky franchise. Rocky 4's $300.3 million worldwide gross maybe safe for now as Creed III has "only" made $258.5 million. It's on-demand now too.

Notables

For the first time in its 12 weekends, Avatar: The Way of Water, failed to make $1 million. It did $846K.

Besides spotting the tabletop set-up at the local comic shop (usually next to Warhammer), I knew very little about Dungeons and Dragons prior to heading in the theater and had a lot of fun with the flick. Hoping it can leg out as good word of mouth spreads. Still though, a sequel is likely and it should get even more love when it hits streaming.

Mario bout to come through and suck the life out of the rest of the box office participants this week.

I’m on the fence for Air…got this T-Mobile Tuesday code so though I wasn’t planning on seeing in theaters, I just might today. Definitely want to catch Mario.

Wonder why they’re showing starting today and not tomorrow :patrice:

As a non sneaker head and non bball fan, air was pretty dope. I thought the story wouldn't be that interesting but it kept me engaged...well acted and directed.

And the 80s soundtrack is perfect
