Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
Seems like a waste of time:mjlol:

Im sure it does probably help in other areas of life with memory. But if you cant rap,its not going to make your lyrics any better.

Only advantage I can say it will give you,is probably your delviery sounding better since your not distracted reading off a paper. But Pac wrote, and and was great at delivering whatever emotion he wanted. Although he was an actor as well. But Jay didnt write, and his delivery is nothing to write home about. Has anybody ever asked Jay "whats the point?". Or is everyone always too amazed to get that question out:krs:?

Ill take it he respected Sieg like we all knew. And wanted him to do what Biggie and he himself could do.

*Waits for haters to say Jay was sabatoguing Siegel, hoping he would lose a step:lolbron:*
Spitting off the paper sounds exactly like that... Like you're spitting off the paper

I'm not sure when Beans stopped writing, but I'm sure you'd be able to tell a noticeable difference

It was on Dame's label, but that was a dope one too.

I think lyrically he was in his prime on The Reason. "Nothing Like It" era was Beans at his best, to me. He got locked up right after recording The B Coming, and that was when everything fell off for him.
shyt fell off with his voice.. Even when he got out, he was fire lyrically

After he came home, he wasn't focused enough to put together projects like he did before getting locked up. Which he's said himself. That whole situation derailed him crazy. The career went south then.

Probably hard to be focused when you know you cant be the same person. Its like Michael Jordan sticking around to be a guy who can put up 10 points off the bench. He definitely wasnt the same after losing his voice and delivery which were some of his best attributes:francis:

It must have been before we as the audience ever got material. Im trying to think if i see a noticeable difference from the time i first heard Beans til the time his career ended:patrice:?

But theres a noticeable difference with Jay,and he wasnt writing the whole time. I dont know if i biy into "reading off paper sounds like rapping off paper". It can,but it doesnt have to. I dont think you can actually make it as a proffessional rapper if it sounds like your rapping off paper. Have you ever listened to an artist with a deal and said "Sounds llike they rapping off paper:scust:" lol.

Its truly something i only notice from novice who just started,or people who havent made it

Jay stopped writing cuz he lost a lot of his best lyrics because he didn’t have his notebook to write in when he was hustling, so he’d scribble on scrap paper and he’d lose it or have crazy amounts of scrap paper at the end of the day. If you tried to rap at any level you know the feeling lol. So he decided to just start memorizing it

My nikka, if I was some low level goon and I hog tied Jay back in the day best believe I'd be cashing in telling that story to every media outlet in existence.

That's how I know it's phony

Koalabama and the Cosmos
his best album ain't even on rocafella

the b coming >>>>

larry-david-unsure.gif

As a Philly marsupial that rocked all three albums, this is a tough call. The B Coming was dope but felt more "fame from the streets", The Reason I can easily let ride despite the lazy ass track "I Don't Do Much", The Truth is a good solo but aged like stale hairy ass due to those "digital thug beats". With that being said:

I dunno why other rappers take pride in not writing. 99.9999% of rappers need to be writing. jay-z just happens to be a savant.
1) A flex in the ability to memorize in quick fashion, lending to a belief that you can be prolific in making records.
2) Some believe it lends to a more "natural" or "convincing" delivery, as sometimes it can be obvious that you're reading off a paper (though that can be worked on while still reading). You wanna be far away from the prime Diddy delivery as possible.
