Prince, Miles, Rick MJ, Stevie, Marvin, James Brown and many other masters before him always knew who he was and what he wanted and in the biz if you don't have that you won't last 5 days let alone 30+ years..Beyond the image we gotta understand that it wasn't for that arrogance/independence, he wouldn't have had his own label Paisley Park.. wouldn't have been able to market Purple Rain the way he did, made WB give him his masters back 15 years in, and wouldn't still be headlining his own tours since the 1999 era

Yes he can, he performs other songs from those albums. From what I've heard it's pretty much pot luck on what songs you will hear at his shows now. Purple Rain gets left off a lot as apparently he doesn't really care for the song anymore. Some people paid 1000 bucks to see him at the recent Atlanta show and there were some definite boos when he left the stage.

He seems adamant on trying to force people to like his new shyt. After the concert they were handing out his latest cd and I saw folks refusing it once they saw what it was.

Will the label make money if he sings them though?

Could be another reason he doesn't perform them.
