It's actually really stupid in this day and age, I actually deleted the shyt.
There's a reason blackberry is on it's death bed and it's stupid decisions like creating a waiting line for a messenger
You could take this approach if you were the only player on the market, but there are far too many other established messaging services out there now not to offer everyone access on day 1.

I rather them get it right.
Last time they tried to roll it out there was a bunch of fakes and it crashed the server plus folks were complaining about Bbm not be working but it was because they were using fakes.
I am going to lose interest if I don't get access soon.

They already got it wrong, you don't have a line for access to a messaging service in 2013, the Gmail comparison was stupid in that article because that was prior to everyone having a smartphone. So you could get away with that type of approach of limited accessibility.
