i don't know why you would want to move to such a horrible area of the united states. you're life would only get worse in pretty much every way possible. imagine all the facets of your life now. it's gonna be 3.5x worse in the 'bae area'. :yeshrug:

If you got 7-8 grand stacked up then yes... if not no.

dont do it, please dont do it! the cost of livin out here is serious breh. If u dont have shyt lined up and your bread stacked up, you will be hurtin out here
I was planning on doing the above and I'd have some financial support from family, but I'd be going alone and i don't know anyone.

I'm tired of where I'm at and this shytty weather. I'd consider San Diego too, but I never see that many jobs posted there. I have some family in L.A., but that's not where I want to wind up.

What part of the bay? San Jose you might have a better shot
The jobs I've gotten responses from have been mostly in the peninsula, so I was thinking north Bay. One was around Mountain View.

If you have a choice, you shouldn't even quit a job until you have another one lined up.
Moving is such a tough thing.
When I moved to Southern California, I just took a job transfer within my company. Didn't even miss a paycheck.

And yes, from what I've read, the Bay area is wildly expensive.
Be smart. Don't make big emotional decisions just because you want a change.
I know; I've done it before and I never thought I'd do it again, but I've been thinking about it a lot lately.

I can't transfer out there with my current job and honestly, I don't know how much longer my job will be around. There's definitely an end in sight.

I don't want to be stuck where I'm at for the rest of my life either. I'd much rather be on the west coast or near it.

I mean ultimately, even if you just said "screw it" and moved out there without the job and it didn't work out...at the very least you could live with the fact that you took a shot.
I moved to California...was there for 2 years and moved back to NY. Not because it didn't work out. I had some family issues going on that kinda forced me to move back. And frankly the new role I transferred to wasn't as great a fit as I had in NY.

Luckily I was able to get my old job back in NY but I'm glad I went to Cali anyway. It was a great experience and I won't be living with any "what ifs" for the rest of my life.

I hope it works out for you though. A new city really can be a new start.

Considering doing this next year, but I have nothing lined up. :lupe:

I've had phone interviews for a handful of places there, but nothing ever materialized and I'm sure not being near the area had a lot to do with it.

I know it's the most expensive place in the country and money would go quick there. There always seem to be jobs around there I'm qualified for when I look on Indeed.

Any advice? :ld:

Fellow Detroit Brehthren If you're gonna come out here on a whim don't do it. When i moved here i just transferred from my shytty retail job and stayed in my uncles back/beach house for a year. I turned that into getting a better job..damn near career and living very comfortably dolo.

I didn't have a plan but I had resources. If you're going in blindly you'll struggle but you'll find your way. There's jobs out here man if you really want to leave.

Still not used to the cost of living but it's worth it. Most of the areas of this country are pure shyt.

Whatever you decide to do, make sure you have a plan before you do it. If you do that then you should be okay.

This. Make sure you have money stacked up.

i understand your reasoning OP because jobs that are hiring people in one city from another seem to be rare AF these days. Especially just coming out of school.

I knew if I spent a year looking for work in New York from Pittsburgh, no one would hire me and I'd still be in Pittsburgh living with my parents at 29. It only made sense to me to move and find work in the area.
