Gunn isn't the hill I'd die on, but I respect Batista for at least being willing to take a actual stand for what he believes.

The rest of his cast mates will probably stay on the film and all the whining fans will probably still go see the movie. He's at least sticking to his word, which is more than most do. Assuming, of course, he follows through.

They will probably use elements of his script, but scripts get rewritten all the time up to, and during, filming. Plus, the new director is going to want to put his mark on the movie and not just do what James Gunn wrote. Disney/Marvel doesn't NEED Batista or the character of Drax, but I'm sure they would like to have him to keep the onscreen GOTG crew consistent. Batista has always been a hot-head. He'll calm down in a few days or weeks and change his tune.
