During this day by day tournament, voting will be based on each streaming service pros, cons, design layouts, content, price, accessibility, quality and overall satisfaction...
Yesterday's match up ended with Netflix blowing out Showtime 80-20 to advance towards next week's semis.
Let the games begin...
Today I decided to be a bit adventurous with the match ups so I put two of the biggest named free as supported streaming services head to head. Now I know most ppl can't stand ads but both of these services are worth despite of the few ads you'll encounter.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Pluto TV:
Pros:
✓ Curated TV (cable like) channel line-up
✓ Free to watch and no sign-up required
✓ Excellent user experience
✓ Nice layout design
✓ Content updates weekly and monthly
✓ Picture clear HD TV shows and movies
Cons:
× Lacks premium TV channels
× Content supported by frequent commercials
× No original based TV series compared to other competitors
× No search button
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Crackel:
Pros:
✓ Some original programming
✓ Doesn’t overload viewers with ads
✓ A few strong movie options
✓ It's Free!
Cons:
× Very limited library of content compared to other free services
× Lacks HD content
× Laggy video playback
× Outdated layout design
-------------------------------------------------------------------
(You may discuss the reasoning behind your vote)
All in all both are free ad supported services with plenty of content to keep you busy but Pluto TV trounces Crackel from head to toe in terms of HD content, great user experience, beautifully design layout, overall satisfaction and regardless of the ads you'll definitely be satisfied with Pluto.
(Both are accessible on pretty much every device with an internet connection)
Pluto TV wins my vote.
