At times (basically the beginning) this was unbelievably good.

Then at times (basically everything after the midway point, sword fight aside) this was unbelievably stupid.

Deeper spoilers ahead.

To have the entirety of Fedual Japan as the backdrop and to turn your story into a Transformers meets Power Rangers/Megazord battle at the end is easily one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen. Ever. In any genre, in any style of film or television.

There was a point near the beginning where I was thinking “Is this legitimately gonna be the 3rd best Batman movie after TDK and Begins?”, and by the middle/end I was seriously contemplating not even finishing the thing.

I mean, ninjas, samurai, Batman stripping down his style and learning the ways of the time and what we get is a giant Monkeyzord?

I swear I keep trying to get into anime, I’m always looking for “adult” stories with adult themes and ill animation, but every time I end up with weak shyt with overly idealistic heroes and childish endings and I keep thinking “if I saw this shyt when I was 12-15 I probably woulda been good, but I’m way too old now”

This was another example.

Ok, this was some trippy ass shyt I wasn't expecting. I thought this was going to to be a little more grounded just off the beginning. It went a complete 180 as it progressed.

I need to watch it again to appreciate this interesting concept.
