I'm from the Mid West so NYC's view of wrestling doesn't mean shyt to me. I'm talking about local news, national news, tabloids, TMZ, talk shows, etc...."wrestling" has been interchangeable with "WWF" and "WWE" since Hulkamania in the media. WWF has been the reference for decades. WWF/E is to wrestling what Band Aids and Q-Tips are to bandages and cotton swabs. It's going to take some time to be a legitimate competitor to that type of marketshare.
Nah Wrestling wasn't interchangeable with WWF, especially in the south, if you didn't get that point the first time I wrote it, I hope you get it now.
The south wasn't the mid west, in the south we had our own established wrestling circuits and starts. We really were WCW country down here

For those who won't actually click the video, don't take the title out of context

He said not "legitimate " competition true, but he did say they are competition and that competition is a good thing. But they have to produce a home grown mega star, match production values (not really necessary in my opinion) and that WWE is ahead of the game because of NXT camps around the world

He also said he supports them

I got your point the first time dikk head, you aren't getting my point which is WWE is the brand name all of wrestling is known by to the vast majority of people in English speaking countries and has been for decades and it takes more than a few sold out shows, even in big arenas, to be legitimate competition to that throne.

LOL you are a WWE stan, sorry kid, WWE is only synonomous with Wrestling to kids born in the mid - late 90s and after, who don't know better.
For those of us atleast in their 30s, we know WWF wasn't the end all be all of wrestling.

I didn't say any of that shyt, I said WWE is the brand name in the media for pro wrestling and has been for 30+ years now. You're taking it like I'm insulting AEW and standing up for WWE when all I'm saying is WWE is basically Coke of pro wrestling in the same what that "let me have a Coke" means soda/pop/cola in general most places. WWE has decades and decades of brand awareness that a start up that's run one shows and hasn't started TV yet can't possibly hope to have, and it takes a while to build that up to be considered legitimate competition. That's been my point the whole fukking time you shyt head.

I'm in my 30s, from the Mid West where I got to go to more WCW shows than WWF shows as a kid, and I don't give a shyt about the New York market or being a WWE stan.

LOL, I never even wrote AEW, you are having a argument about thinks in your head now. LOL
I simply said, your contention that for the last 30+ years WWF has been synonomous with wrestling is not true.

It's also premature to say they are legitimate competition when they've only had one show and are still 2 months out from starting TV. Really they're going to need to be around for a few years before being considered legitimate competition by many. WWE's been around in one form or another for almost 70 years and has been so synomous with "wrestling" in America that "wrestling" has been called "WWF/WWE" for 30+ years now. Even in the most down times, and even when WCW was beating them, WWF was the name brand for wrestling in the United States, so it's going to take more than a few sold out shows to get people thinking it's more than an alternative.

They sold out the THIRD show in 15 minutes. They’ve already cannibalized ROH, Impact, MLW and took a huge dent in NJPW’s USA expansion. Double or Nothing was a bigger show than WWE’s 4th biggest non Saudi show (Money in the Bank) by every single measure. Compare how All Out is doing compared to Stomping Grounds. It’s competition.

You seriously believe that, in an era where the whole world is online, that there’s a large wrath of wrestling fans that has no idea AEW exists? I guess we’re from very diff parts of the Midwest.

i'm not rolling with anybody on this back and forth but impact ain't been shyt in a long ass time, I don't know anybody who actually watches MLW, ROH has definitely gone downhill as well

Uh...what? Where did I say anything like that? I'm talking about people outside of the wrestling fan bubble.

aew is better off not trying to be direct competition and doing their own thing and that will pay off better.

This. Not just wrestling but any new business. It will take 5+ years for them even start earning a profit. It's crazy to think they are competition just yet.
Basically. It's like if I started up a new game development studio this month and people started wondering if my group was legit competition to Nintendo or EA. Obviously not, even if someone chooses to buy my little indie game over Zelda or whatever.

It's gonna take AEW quite a few years and a couple of miracles before they put even a small dent in WWE's hold on pro wrestling.

It’s not about being competition it’s about being a legitimate option for fans and other wrestlers to go to
