Chiwetel Ejiofor is pretty underrated.

Gary Oldman as someone else mentioned above.

That was still Denzel playing Denzel as Malcolm X. Denzel is a tremendous orator with screen presence and that’s what allowed him to play Malcolm. For starters he don’t even look like Malcolm.

Giancarlo has more range he can give you Gus Fring, Esteban from Fresh, Adam Clayton Powell in Godfather of Harlem, Julian in School Daze, Buggin Out in Do The Right Thing.

It’s all a different vibe, different accents, can go from dramatic to comedic.

he's a character actor, so his job is to inhabit different characters. Denzal is a movie star his job is rmro draw an audience and keep them captivated with his screen presence and charisma.

saying Giancarlo is better than Denzal is like saying Pippen is better than MJ because he handles the ball and guards the best player..

I believe Giancarlo can be a lead guy but don’t know if Denzel can’t do what Giancarlo does

Denzel is the same in George McKenna Story as he is in Malcolm X. He’s being Denzel.

I guess you can say different types of actors :manny:

The title says ability and talent wise, it's a careful wording. How many actors are better based on that criteria?

De Niro

Brando

Rourke

Bale

Gary Oldman

Just off the top of my head

Again love GE's body of work but top 5 all time is some pretty tough company

Daniel Day-Lewis is probably the best actor I've seen on screen. Just playing William Cutting in Gangs of New York.....that role alone is probably Top 10, all-time. Plus dude has won the Oscar for Best Actor, three times. He's quiet and reclusive and doesn't seem to be all in the Hollywood politics (think he's British btw).....his wins were legit. DDL could probably have 5 or 6 Oscars if he was putting out movies every 18-24 months.

Giancarlo is very underrated and is a top-tier actor that doesn't get the love he deserves..relative to his skill. Not only was he 'Big Brother All-Mighteeee', dude was Gus Fring AND Esteban in the movie 'Fresh' (all the 70's and 80's babies probably remember Fresh). I agree with whoever said Jeffery Wright. Dude played 'Peoples' in Shaft, Muddy Waters in Cadillac Records and the robot dude in Westworld, right now. That is remarkable range that few can manage. If there was ever a movie about all the crazy stuff that happened at ESPN back in the day with womanizing, partying etc., Jeff could play Mike Tirico.

Samuel L. Jackson is also one of my favorites. It's rare that him or Denzel are in a movie I don't like. They always deliver the goods. Leo DiCaprio is pretty good though I'm not sure he "transforms" the way other actors do. Of course in Django, he was really gotdamn convincing as Calvin Candie....so there's that. Actually, I'd put him up there too tbh.
