I always wanted a blue submariner rolex.. so when I was able to buy it 10times I went for it.. makes me feel great and also it’s symbolic in a way that I would never “waste”time . So it’s valuable to me in that sense and obviously it’s an accomplishments.. same can be said why do u wear head phones ? Why do u have shoes on ? Why do u have an iPhone.. everyone has their preference and I would never wear a 10$ watch and it keeps GREAT time. I don’t follow fashion I lead.. so everything’s not for everyone .. BE U and DO U . PERIODSalute to you and no judging, but what do you get from spending that much on a watch? Is it just the fact that you're able to say you bought a Rolex or what? Again, no judging, but just questions. I base things on functionality so I feel like a generic smartwatch from Wish.com ($10) is more "valuable" than a Rolex.
These virtue signaling pocket watching nikkas are disgusting.I always wanted a blue submariner rolex.. so when I was able to buy it 10times I went for it.. makes me feel great and also it’s symbolic in a way that I would never “waste”time . Crazy ehThese virtue signaling pocket watching nikkas are disgusting.
I feel you...but I'm the first one that will tell you you're crazy for having a $200 pair of shoes on and don't get me started on IPhone users. My mind works different when it comes to knowing the value of things...I always wanted a blue submariner rolex.. so when I was able to buy it 10times I went for it.. makes me feel great and also it’s symbolic in a way that I would never “waste”time . That wasn't his point though. He doesn’t have a point, he cannot take that custom patek back and get his full refund, that jeweler who made that custom piece is not giving him back $90k for it. We have 20 years of rappers admitting that the jewelry they have looses a lot of value.
Add this in too. As an entertainer, these are all seen as promotional items. Especially if you get your name or company logo on stuff. It's part of your job. You need these things. Just because you buy a $50000 desk for your office, doesn't mean you can't write it off just like a $50 desk. That promotional flyer is doing the same thing as you walking around with your record label on your neck. Not playing devil's advocate, but if you can use the Jewelry as a tax write off as being an entertainer and sell the chain a few years later - you technically don't lose that much. I presume most rappers don't know that, but it's what a few entertainers do to game the system.
It’s all about perspective.. first off something’s you pay money for are not only valuable to you but other people on earth...I feel you...but I'm the first one that will tell you you're crazy for having a $200 pair of shoes on and don't get me started on IPhone users. Which is why he said what he said about image. For Joe Blow, nah it doesn't make any sense. If you want to be a famous rapper, running around with no jewelry is not going to garner the attention you need. Not in person, not in pics, and not at the show. You'd be hard pressed to name 10 rappers who didn't wear expensive jewelry. I can personally only thing of DMX and Eminem. It's promotion. I don't care who you are or who you think you are, you see somebody SHINING, you're going to look and wonder, "Who's that to be having all that shyt on?" Bill Gates is going to look over. It's over the top, it's eye catching, and it makes people think you have money, want your money, and want to know how you got your money...It’s dumb.
Even if the loss “isn’t as bad as people think”, it’s unequivocally worse than literally doing nothing with that money. If you just left the money in a shoebox in your garage, it would be a better investment.
There are way too many rappers who bought a ton of jewelry who weren’t shyt.Which is why he said what he said about image. For Joe Blow, nah it doesn't make any sense. It's an investment in your brand. So leasing/selling back/upgrading is much better than wearing the same chain for 10 years or not wearing one at all. "It's all entertainment" - Dr. Dre
