About B level fighter

He been a B level fighter and still is:manny:

He lost to Shawn Porter...Shawn Porter is a good fighter himself.

Like I said, AB was the underdog in the fight...even WITH the catchweight, so him losing is not surprising. He should be fighting no higher than 140. The sooner they figure that out, the sooner we get that 4th belt.

no breh hes a lightweight at best..that was his most optimal division..hes looked average since leaving it

AB is wack at 147...I dont wanna see him fight anyone from Welterweight again. However, at 140, he can beat all them lil nikkas. Matthysse, Provodnikov, Crawford, Herrera, Postol, Algieri, Vargas all get that work from AB.

He's not a Welterweight:yeshrug:

Yall wanna force him to be what he's not. He's a Junior Welterweight at best.

real talk...and I know thats your boy...but he is a beltholder at best. not top level champion even at 140. maybe 135 where he has size advantage because he is actually a big guy. really he looked just as big as Porter if not bigger to me. look at his legs. look at how wide his back is. WW isnt the real issue here. he would lose against the top guys at 140. why? because although he has talent, he is not mentally conditioned to be a great fighter. this could change if he gets a new trainer. not that Stafford is bad but they have outgrown each other and he needs to learn new stuff and strengthen his mental focus.

if he did exactly what floyd does outside the ring and in camp he could be a decent PPV fighter.

in order to do that though he has to make changes such as:

  • mentally condition himself to throw more punches
  • be much more active with the jab
  • work the body much more when inside
  • use his movement better
he has good tools. good hand speed, power, decent defense when he is paying attention, foot speed.

what we havent seen from him is the mental fortitude to take him a step farther than what his talent can. he has gone as far as his physical talent can take him. lets see if he can become a better fighter mentally or is this the end of the line for him as a million dollar fighter? :mjcry:

cuz he marketed as the next floyd. People underestimate the power of wshh and the hip hop crowd. You see him around all the stars/rappers and some(clearly they don't know boxing) think he the next best thing. :yeshrug: makes sense to me. A friend told me he noticed him years back when he came out with waka flocka rapping and caught his attention :manny:

most of us knew this would be a tough fight for him to win. he was also the betting underdog. he has a big name because of the Floyd association, but he is really just an average fighter that has done a good job of selling himself

he aint beatin Crawford breh. Athletically and physically, they are in the same class....but Crawford is a different breed mentally. Crawford can adapt and adjust. He has a consistent work rate and stays busy with the jab. Those are things AB just hasnt shown. The rest of those dudes arent anything to brag about as far as beating except for Matthysse...and that would be a tough fight for AB to win. Prov would be very tough too. I would stay away from Algieri even because of AB's low work rate.

I dont see his problem as being weight. Mentally, he just doesnt have the focus and technically he doesnt have any game plan.

problem is....Haymon done threw this nikka in the bushes. he had to show and prove and he didnt. now you have to wonder if Haymon even sees it worth the energy to go on a campaign to rebuild his career.

He has talent, I s-hit on you guys but I always admit it. I said it 3-4 times last night. I liked the whole Can Man persona I just don't think he lives up to it.

definitely a talented fighter, but it takes much more than that. he needs to look at changing his team. someone has to get more activity out of him. there are a lot of guys that can help him, like Roach, the Hunters, the Mayweathers, McGirt, etc....if his hands arent gonna move more than this, he wont be able to beat any top fighter in any weight class unless he knocks em out. he was getting outworked in the lower weights. he was just bulldozing his way to stoppages.

And lateral movement, he can't keep walking into a chainsaw at 147 (no hyperbole) especially without a jab. I'd like to see what Roach can do with him but for sure he has to switch camps.
