Didn't Savage use a ring bell during his elbow drop to Steamboat's throat during their feud? I think that lead to the WM3 match if I am not mistaken.

I think you're right.
i remember as kid being scared. Then when they showed Steamboat in speech therapy trying to talk again and get got frustrated..

Storytelling is what makes wrestling great.
they still try it today but its different. Everything now is mostly told in the ring via "interviews." . The backstage antics you can see sometimes, it looks like the director says "action" as soon as they cut to it. Nothing seems spontaneous anymore.

when did "banger" become a part of wrestling slang :patrice: I feel like I didn't start hearing that till recent years on twitter and now wrestlers themselves are saying it on tv
Just like everything else, it came from Hip-Hop.

When a rapper would make a record for the club, they'd call it a "club banger", which got shorted to "banger", then any song that slapped got called a "banger", then anything that's good in life becomes a "banger".

You know how it goes, then White people get ahold to it:beli:

I only remember seeing this match when it originally aired, but it was really good. Hennig & Valentine kept it simple, they were just two guys trying to physically dominate their opponent and win the IC title. Neither man was just doing moves for crowd approval; both guys were actively trying to win, and the match was a lot more believable because of that.
Even though there was a little bit of Jimmy Hart silliness, this was a prize fight and both men sold it like they had been in a scrap. Good stuff from 4 legends!
