Sony released so many cool, destined-to-die products around that time. I loved MiniDiscs, but they came too late. The dawn of MP3s was upon us.

I bought the blank discs, home player with recorder, the portable joint, then the actual deck for the whip, etc.

I got over 200 mini discs up in the attic that I made over a 4 of 5 yr span.

People would get in the car and be like :ohhh:

I'd be like "yeah, ppl ain't up on this yet":jawalrus:

Ppl never got up on it:mjcry:
Save it, you basically have a library

Old head, checking in..............

Back in '98 I was working at an A/V store doing car audio installs and alarms along with home a/v installs. Sony had me hooked on everything they made. MiniDisc was my sales specialty, sold a grip of car units, portables, and home recorders. The ability to make your own recordings, label them, erase them, and reorder them and shock protection plus portability was next level back then.

Fast forward to the last 2 years and I have dove right back into that tech. Friend sold me his Sony MD car head unit, MDX-400, this was a in-dash changer with a magazine that holds 4 MD's, also got ahold of Sony 6-MD car changer, both units have optical outputs to connect to Sony's digital signal processor/crossover, which I also have. I have all the car stuff, 2 portable MD units and 1 home unit. Picked up an old school Sony boombox and Discman. Collection below........

You read my mind, I was about to mention the DJ.

I had that in college thinking I was being different from the iPod users. I never saw anyone else with one, ever. :francis:

Breh when I went to my uncle's house and he had a catalog of those big ass laser discs :ahh:

nikka you couldn't tell me I wasn't living in the year 3000

He never let me touch or even watch any one of them, I still don't know what the video quality was like, all I did was take them out of the case and look at them when he wasn't around :manny:

I had them shyts. Audio Quality peaked around the late 90s early 2000s. Then the mp3 era hit and audio quality went down. We are back to 24/96 now, but Spotify doesn't give a shyt at 320. Only Tidal and Qobuz have high rez shyt. Nobody cares. They just want 320 outta Spotify. It disgusts me, owning a very high end chain. The sound quality of late 90s to early 2k shyt was phenomenal. You can't even imagine. Back when digital first started producers where taking advantage. Nowadays, nobody cares but audiophiles (which I am one). 16/44 needs to be the bare minimum standard. 24/96 or 24/48 at a minimum needs to be the standard. You can really hear the difference in sound quality from 320kps and 16/44 or 24/96 if you have a good setup. If you're an audiophile you know. If you know you know. :manny:

Hate the fact that a lot of artist don’t put out FLAC or MQA releases. Qobuz has been my go to for the last few years.
