I've often described B5 as Game of Thrones in outer space without titties.

It is.

Couple things to keep in mind though.

  1. Season 1 is bad; there's no other way to describe it. Even the most hardcore B5 fan will agree that it's garbage, but it lays the groundwork for the rest of the series so you just have to sit through it. By the 2nd season, the show gets MUCH better in all aspects.
  2. It hasn't aged well. B5 was the first show to strictly use CGI models for the space battles, and it shows. Especially during the first season. By Season 2, the effects get much much better, and by S3, they're the best space battles in Sci-Fi, hands down.

yah in B5 nobody'ssafe

your favorite characters will get put in situations where they're literally teetering off the edge of a precipice. a few characters will fall off and for the ones who don't they lose something in themselves. you will definitely get emotional in some episodes.

good call. garak is another one of my fav characters. him, quark and odo, are the most verbally skilled characters in the show. when it's time for jokes these cats will straight clown you.

btw, what do y'all think of avery brook's acting? i've discussed ds9 with a few people and a common complaint is that avery brooks over does it in some scenes. does this viewpoint have any merit to it?

I'm not done yet, but while he's definitely had his moments of over acting and being so eccentric it verges on the edge of weird, overall I think he did a great job. I especially love when he became captain and had a far more authoritative and dominant swagger. He's bossed up now and I like him a lot. He does the "I'm the boss around here, but I'm still your homoerotic" role very well.

It's weird. Sometimes he overacts like a mf'er, other times he's cool and in-control as shyt. Overall, I loved Sisko tho.
