Michael O'Hare, star of "Babylon 5," has died at the age of 60. According to The Hollywood Reporter, O'Hare died Friday after suffering a heart attack five days before.

"Babylon 5" creator J. Michael Straczynski announced the news via his Facebook fan page on September 28, writing: "I regret that I must convey the sad news that Michael O'Hare passed away today. He suffered a heart attack on Sunday and was in a coma until his passing this afternoon. This is a terrible loss for all B5 fans and everyone involved with the show wishes to convey their condolences to the O'Hare family. He was an amazing man."

O'Hare starred as Commander Jeffrey Sinclair on the sci-fi show's first season, beforeleaving the series in what Straczynski described as a "mutual, amicable, and friendly separation," occasionally returning to reprise the role in Seasons 2 and 3.

Largely absent from TV in recent years, O'Hare's last screen role was on an episode of "Law and Order" in 2000. He also originated the role of Col. Nathan Jessup in Aaron Sorkin's original Broadway production of "A Few Good Men" from 1989-91. The role was played by Jack Nicholson -- and earned him an Oscar nomination -- in the 1992 film adaptation.

I been telling cats about B5 for years. 90% never make it past season 1 (understandably). The ones that do universally agree that it's one of the best shows ever.

LOL. I was about to be a S1 casualty as well, but once that was complete and they introduced Sheridan & the Shadow War I was GLUED. Definitely one of the most underrated Sci-Fi shows of all time. B5 makes Star Trek DS9 look like str8 doodoo.

Even Star Trek Deep Space Nine?

B5 had an actual plot. For B5 it's impossible to enjoy yourself by meandering around with the episodes. Star Trek DS9 had an amazing premise and great characters, but it was really nothing more than a serialized show set in space. You could watch the show backwards without losing anything in terms of story. DS9 is different from most Star Treks in that there were story arcs (i.e. The Maquis) but they were generally poorly done. Also there was too much filler. I felt like B5 had too much filler even though it was 5 seasons. DS9 was less interesting on the whole and it stretched for 7 fukkin seasons!

It literally took me a year to watch every single DS9 episode. It only took me a month to complete B5. That's because it had a plot and was more engaging. Although I will say that there was a bit of inconsistency in the beginning. For example S01 is pretty awful. I remember how the first time I watched B5 I told my bro how much it sucked compared to DS9. The story didn't seem all that interesting and the production values were WOAT. But if you stick by it, and get to season two i guarantee you that it will improve considerably.

i'm a sci-fi show geek and imo, there's very few shows that are as well done as B5. If you're into those types of shows you should definitely have B5 under your belt. shyt is piff.

Was tempted to stop reading there because this is entirely wrong, but I kept going and the post was good. I love DS9. I'm in Season 5 and have very little complaints. The "fillers" are very well done, and as of season 4 they never leave you waiting too long before continuing the mian plot in some capacity.

no worries my dude. if you love DS9, then you will cum from watching B5. both shows have the same premise, but B5 fixes a lot of the annoying aspects of DS9. again, like some have said, season 1 of B5 is extra lame, but once you get past it, you will not want to stop. i'd recommend you watch ds9 right after you watch B5, so that you can have make a reasonable comparison. that's what i did.
