GGG would be at least competitive with all of them with the possible exception of Roy, who was as good as any fighter in boxing history in his prime. Toney barely survived Dave Tiberi in a fight he should've lost and you're telling me GGG couldn't at least be competitive with him? :rudy:

dynamite hands

slick defense

great ringsmanship

shyt how would bhop do against any of those guys in the 90s? the one he faced beat him clearly with one hand lol

he should have mentioned fighters he actually faced in the 90s: Segundo Mercado, Joe Lipsey, Simon Brown, Glen Johnson, Robert Allen, Antwun Echols
And to think, they were a step up from GGG's current opponents.

You dont need dirty tactics and we don't need steroids. :smugbiden:

That was Rippedfuel my dude at the time it was sold over the counter. Which is why Roy wasn't suspended and has been tested every fight before and after came up clean. The dude who Roy fought Richard Hall had a way higher level then Jones. So maybe they both were doing some RippedFuel shots together.

got outhustled/outworked by tiberi but james was one of those on again off again fighters you have to remember he was the busiest champion in boxing back then jackie kallen had him fighting fights back to back to back. you go back to that era in boxing where fighters fought a lot sometimes fighting several times a month, a couple times a week, you see those freak losses come up here and there. for any dave tibieri controversial type fight you could point at you have a fight like that destruction of iran barkley by james toney which is the middleweight equivalent of gatti/mayweather to point at. streaky yes but toney skill cant be questioned.

They were negotiating that for over year or so. Which is why Danny Green was fighting on the Jeff Lacy Undercard. Remember even though Roy don't make that money here he still is popular overseas especially in Australia, Russia, Poland etc. So to get RJJ to travel overseas the purse had to be correct since that was his first time fighting overseas back then as a pro. Dude got Koed in 1 but still walks away with 10 million with a sold out arena there. Got to love boxing lol. He saw the paydays pretty decent and he continues to fight. Even in his prime he was only getting 3-5 million on HBO per fight. His biggest purse he ever got was 10 million guaranteed when he fought Ruiz. After the PPV numbers he ended up getting like 20 million. Which is nothing today really compared to the change that Mayweather and Pacman get.

Imagine if he was willing to travel during his prime reign? He probably would been making that crazy cash even without a network behind him. I can understand his reluctance being robbed in the Olympics and all. America don't support hiphop or boxing like they should. Which is why you see so many older Hiphop artist still traveling doing shows overseas and getting that paper. Same thing is said in boxing. Them European's appreciate the once greatness and don't mind seeing them again.
