It's a style that right now sets here apart. Because as you identify no mainstream act has really tried shyt like that in over 15 years.

Now that House and EDM and House influenced tracks are dominating the top 40 I think she's done well at blending a more sophisticated form of house with Hip-hop without tarnishing its integrity (see Minaj).

If you don't like deep house you probably won't like her music, but there are enough reasons to respect it.

Anyone pretending Azealia is simply a 'house' artist hasn't heard the much of her work, IMO though she hits harder with records like '212' then a single like this..EP was that work..Mixtape showed the potential..this video looking like an ancient BET lunchtime vid isnt the best look though. Still the best female artist at the moment..

let this song take off and she will be JUST a House artist that occasionally does hiphop. thats how it goes nowadys. use hiphop to boost you up since its the most popular genre. then use some other genre to actually sell your music since hiphop in general doesnt sell all that well if it aint eminem . weezy, or jay + kanye.

She is quite clearly rapping. Rapping is a big part of what she does. Rap is the foundation of hip-hop. She isn't "just rhyming words" and you know it.

People and their boxes kmt. Not everything fits neatly into one field of classification.

True posts, but to be fair if Beyonce, Alicia Keys or Kid Cudi dropped material it'd be posted here, so I think it's fair if Azealia is posted here.

I mean shyt...Miguel's new album is on the first page and that's not hip hop either. I'd say this forum is for urban music with the focus primarily on hip hop, but I don't think anything not hip hop should automatically removed. I dunno that's just me.
