 at the mashup.

Anyway, I was reminded of a conversation I had with a friend of mine had in 2008, around the time Santigold's self-titled and M.I.A.'s Kala came out, where he told me that he liked the Santigold record more than the M.I.A. record. I wanted to choke him lifeless on the spot (remember, this was before she hooked up with Rusko, released that horrid Maya album and then got exposed in the New York Times). As I told him, Santigold's record is only great if you've listened to 10 reggae records in your lifetime. Otherwise, it's just a decent indie record. Simply kind of meh.

I actually liked Diplo's Top Billing mixtape/Santigold remix album more than the self titled album itself. But that's just me :yeshrug:.

I never felt like she was trying to do ANY kind of reggae album on her self titled, so that comparison to me makes absolutely no sense, I accept it for what it was with her making her own music.

Top Billing was an offshoot and to be honest I liked it much more then the album probably because I grew up with dancehall music and it has that heavy reggae influence.

I don't think theres need shyt on her, she mixes she produces she's a black woman making the music she loves without it being completely wack, and I respect her for it

you didnt neg me for that son, youre not as smart as yaga.

she can easily body cam given both parties were put in a room alone to write.
banks would fukking win.
u mad and cant get that through your head?
sorry youre fukkin dumb and thinks she cant body a dude, and when she says she wants to dance it means shes making dance music to dance to.
keep taking shyt literal.

Nah, I negged you the first time 'cause you didn't get the obvious reference I made in my first post and you were already in warrior mode in this thread. I've already tried giving you neg rep but this board wants me to spread the love around a bit first. It will be there for ya eventually.

And at no point did I ever say or imply that Azealia Banks would lose in a battle to Cam 'cause she's a girl. Stop with that simple bullshyt. I just don't think *Azealia Banks* would win in a battle against Cam.

Really? You don't think there's ANY type of reggae influence in her work? I see it all over her bass lines and guitar work, even on the singles from Master of My Make Believe. Disparate Youth's bassline is STRAIGHT dub reggae (or at least dub-inspired post-punk...).

And the Diplo tape was called Top Ranking, not Billing. :snoop: Stupid me.

I'm not trying to shyt on her or anything, she just doesn't light my world on fire. That puts her in a LARGE group of artists. If it makes you feel any better, Kala was my 2007 (yeah, 2007. Writing and research has got me kind of fukked...) album of the year, and at least one major music critic's album of the decade (and it's up there for me) so she REALLY wasn't beating that at all .

Nope, like I said, I will neg you "again", which means that's a SECOND neg rep coming to you. The first neg rep, as I've already said in this thread, was for your failure to catch the reference in my first post I made in this thread.

So far you've proven you:

1) Didn't catch the most obvious lyric in the biggest song of the artist you've ridden for very hard in this thread,

2) Don't know what Trip-Hop is, even though you tried to compare the artist you're riding to, to Trip-Hop.

3) Make hilarious claims that someone who's never insulted anyone beyond twitter, can take out Cam'ron, an mc tested in battles with the biggest mc's in the game, today.

Yeah, I see the mediocrity here.

maybe if you read my posts to yaga you would edit your shyt. maybe if you didnt exaggerate you wouldnt look like a herb flip flopper flopping like a dying fish.

blahblahblah. look up the word mediocrity and then think again if you wanna label me and our convo that.

CANIBUS choked. what makes you think cam cant?

I hear what you're saying and I was talking about her debut being a straight up reggae album, but the reggae influence has always been there with what she's done.

I think its universally agreed that MIA's third album was.. wild  but I didn't listen to it enough to call it hot garbage.
