I heard on a bulls podcast this morning, that this is the first time the bulls have been over .500 since 2017 when jimmy was here.

what up with p-will? he was invisible out there last night.
He's settling into being the 5th option. He'll look like this more often than not unless there's a drastic priority shift in terms offensive touches.

He's not in any actions with any of the main scorers and he's basically the most athletic spot up shooter in the NBA right now.
:mjlol:

The only baskets he scored were off fast breaks and the FT. Nothing from a set play.

Why do you guys keep overreacting to p will like he didn’t just return from an injury six days ago lol. He missed most of practice and half of the pre season.
This has nothing to do with that... it's how he's being used. He had limited touches last year with a much less talented offensive players. If he's not going to be initiating offense, then he needs to be doing more than just standing in the corner.

Well from the commentary last night it seems most guys on the roster don’t know the plays yet. And it makes sense considering 90 percent of the team is new. And it would really make sense for him to really not know anything since he’s been hurt and hasn’t really had time to work with the rest of the starting line up this much.

because hes passive by nature and sharing the ball with Zach, Demar, Vuce, Zo

its going to be very difficult for him to progress as a ball handler, scorer without ever having the ball in his hands or plays run for him

its a good problem to have but I do worry about Pats development

Just not worried at all. May be in the minority but I liked what I saw last night. We were poor on offense last night we still did well on the boards and points in the paint despite many believing we were going to be this miniature team and we did well defensively even tho some writers said our defense would be a mess. Those were my concerns. Ball hit some outside shots in big moments another concern of mine. Lavine stepped up and was a star when we needed him. The offense will come around we have too many weapons for it not to so I'm not worried about that.

But If we can rely on our defense to pull out grit and grind games when our offense is struggling that's a great sign for getting many wins especially on the road vs some of the better teams. Pistons had 9pt, 7pt leads at times and our defense continued to get stops to get us back in there. I'm really encouraged by what I saw. :manny:

I like what I saw too, but the big red flag for me was Vuce's defense. He was getting burned in the pick and roll and couldnt contest shots in the post against Isaiah Stewart, who is like 6'8" at best. He's also supposed to be our key defensive rebounder but the Pistons were pulling down contested offensive rebounds all 1st half. I think missing bunnies early and getting that tech due to lack of no calls got into his head a bit.

then again, if Vuce was better in those areas, he'd be like a top 15-20 player lol - but he needs to be better at the things he can control, like controlling the boards better to close out possessions. I dont expect him to to be Gobert, but we do need him to hit the boards with hustle and energy

I thought people were hard on Demar ... I thought he looked pretty good. Once he got in ISO, he was getting great looks, he just missed a couple easy ones at the rim. He didnt seem like a trainwreck on defense either and actually got his hands on a couple balls. His defense can easily be masked with guys like Caruso & Zo anyways

He is a young dude who doesnt wanna step on toes and is basically 5th option with starters. That's why I'd rather him get more run with the bench

Secondly I am worried that his passive mindset is gonna block him from reaching his full potential. In the pros, you have to be aggressive to really reach your peak.
Look at Jimmy Butler. Honestly P Will is more skilled than Jimmh was in his early days...better shot, smoother handle.

But Jimmy was aggressive and attacked and was able to get to the line even when his shot was iffy and he had limited handles. By being aggressive, he was able to impose and grow without being a ball hog. And from there was able to improve his handle and passing

I just dont know if Pat is a guy that's gonna force the issue....he seems super laidback and being ok being in the background. Theres no way he shouldn't be getting 9-10 shots....but half is on how he is used and half is on Pat

When I see a young dude like Terence Mann go ham in the playoffs and be aggressive....it makes you think it's all in state of mind

I dont think Pat is the next Kawhi but theres no reason he cant be a more athletic, better handling prime Deng....19/7/4 with steal and block
