i was in Canada in the 4th grade listening to Silk the shocker. His flow was so trash that i copped the album.

"It aint my fault!":francis: i don't even remember another track off that album.

Not going to lie, I fukked with No limit albums because they had the illest covers. Some of them were white and shyt. as a kid that pleased me
Gtfoh, that album had some serious heat, go to youtube asap

No Limit had enough dope rappers on the roster at their peak. It died out cause of the decline and change in production, along with Cash Money’s rise bringing another sound.
but none of those rappers were major draws.
No Limit the brand is what got people to buy...as well as No Limit gaming the system.
They were counting albums "shipped" as going gold and platinum.

P's problem is he never really had good taste.
He has no ear for music, nor any type of "swag" (wtf do kids call it these days?).
and worst of all he doesnt realize his ear is trash.

Compare him to Baby who was able to keep Cash Money going w/o Fresh.

I'll never understand how muthafukkaz from other regions, countries, ethnicities, run up in these threads runnin they mouth on some johnny come lately just discovered rap music opinion with NO IDEA of what the fukk they are talking about.

EVERY single nikka in the south during that time was listening to no limit, whether YOU liked it or not, Straight up. Cant even debate this shyt anymore. If you was there or old enough to remember that shyt was pumpin outta every whip, dorm, step show, step party, hole in the wall strip club, club, party, function, ject, black high school/college football/hoop game.

Bbbbbutbbut the soundscan? They were trash tho, who listens to master p? He has no bars, he cant speak, silk only sold x records, i hate mystikal, why snoop of all people sign? how did no limit stay a float, blah, blah, waaaaah. Klowns on here sayin/askin the same shyt for 20 years...lol

Muthafukkaz bought their records. And listened n partied to the music all over the muthafukkin south n beyond. End of story.

after pac died we were bumping the shyt outta no limit until dmx first album dropped. And yes we were bumping those no name artists because the albums were fire at the time. the 'horrible album covers' were revolutionary in the 90's. he had cds in different colors the whole 9. No limit WAS hiphop and had a great run. fukk u east coast nikkas hating talking about they scammed the numbers... how when everyone had their shyt in the westcoast and the south??

:whoa:

we were coppin those albums heavy on the east coast too.

dudes in here hating are hermits & neo-nazis. half of them aint even from the east.

Most people that bought a NL Cd were buying into No Limit...
...that that particular rapper who was featured on the album.

Thats why it died so fast...
...the sound, culture, society changed...and P really didnt have true dedicated fanbase.

:what:

this post is so dam out of touch.

im not even gonna bother. lol.

...its the reason why almost none of those albums are revered today.

People talk more about music from Rap A Lot and Memphis that came out during that same time.

People have always talked about No Limit, it's just that since their peak, No Limit had a lengthy stretch of flat out bad and embarrassing music, and that's pretty fresh on people's minds. Hell, a lot of veterans have suffered from that, including Eminem and Jay-Z, that's what happens when you're in the game for a long time.

but none of those rappers were major draws.

Them not being major draws had nothing to do with my post. Mystikal, Fiend, Mac, C-Murder, Mia X, Magic and Soulja Slim were all dope rappers, but Mystikal being the only one that break out as a major draw cause he was lucky enough to link with a rising production team in the Neptunes, while everybody else fell out of NL's favor for various reasons. No Limit would've still been a force for longer than they were had they found legit production once BBTP fell off and left instead of getting production that sounded like the knockoff versions of past stuff. As far as Baby, he did exactly what Master P didn't do, he not only found very good production once Mannie's started declining and left, but he also had his claw deep into Lil' Wayne and did everything to keep Cash Money afloat heading into the next era (which in turn led to Drake and Nicki the era after that). After everybody left No Limit, Master P was basically left with himself, Silkk, Lil Romeo, a very young Curren$y, and a bunch of dudes no one wanted to here.

Would you rather hear stuff like this?

or stuff like this?

Good/great production can save the most subpar artists. That is the case ten-fold today, and that was the biggest reason for No Limit's fall off, not anything about "not being draws", cause good consistent production heading into the next era would've saved No Limit from becoming the punchline years after their peak.

To your point No Limit linked with The Neptunes the same year. No Limit also had Ke'Noe who was very active last decade.

I loved that Pusha/P/Krazy track, but apparently Master P missed the boat on continuing to with Neptunes. I always thought Ke'Noe was just alright. Outside of some B.G. stuff, I've never listened to anything really standout from him.

He had his finger on the pulse for a few years....enough to start and ride a wave but after that I agree...his finger never got back on the pulse again.

In 1997 February - July... People were still on Pac and Biggie...Biggie somewhat had the summer on lock with Hypnotize and his death, Puff was doing "cross-over" music... So tell us, what the gangsters, the brehs, in the Cutlass and Regals were playing??? Puff?? or TRU 2 DA Game in that span??
The dudes who stayed in the hood, urban parts of the world, played Puff right, this is what you're telling us??

TRU 2 Game was out in Feb, You telling me and those in this thread, that people skipped over this album to cop Puff albums? Brehs rode around and played PUFF, brehs were bumping PUFF at the cookouts and in the clubs?? (There was no internet)

September - December in 1997, Who was everybody listening too??? when I say everybody, I'm talking about nikkas who did time, and would do time, nikkas over 13 years old...

During that span, who was being played at events??

List your rappers in that time frame that nikkas were bumping...I'll wait....I gave you 2 already, Pac and Biggie

Master P - Ghetto D
Tru 2 the Game
Mia X - Unlady Like
Mystikal - Unpredictable
Mr. Serv On - Life Insurance

All came out in 97.... What other rappers were being played heavy along side of them, NOT name 2pac and Biggie

Mystikal - When Mystikal came to the tank, his joining was just as big as Snoop, the only reason it didn't get as much hype because other parts of the world didn't know about Mysikal at the time, but folks down south new what impact his joining was.

For me: Mystikal joining of NL was much a major impact (or much more appreciated) than Snoop's arrival... This should be a thread, Who had the major impact upon their arrival... For me, I again, say Mystikal. When he joined the tank

No Limit became unstoppable. It was no other label, roster that could fukk with No Limit in 97 when Mystikal showed up.... and No Limit was already a force before Mystikal joined.

Where were you when Unpredictable came out? and what other rapper or album in November 1997 besides Unpredictable was nikkas playing heavy?

I'll give you one

For Down South nikkas, Hot Boys - Get it how you live - It dropped in October 97

List those rappers or albums and let's break it down even further.

From November 1997, drop them albums that people were buying and playing besides Mystikal

I can tell you off the rip that November 1997 was stacked:

Vol. 1
R U Still Down
Welcome To Our World
Chapter 2: World Domonation

Harlem World dropped the tail end of October.
