I think this movie has the closest shot to catch avatar.

But it wont be easy.

Avatar was in theaters for a long as time and had consistency. The bootleg game and social media wasnt ad prevalent as it is today which tends to kill momentum with movies.

Avatar also came out in 2009. Adjusted for inflation, that shyt is at 3.31 billi in today's money.

Endgame is probably the only one to have a true chance to catch it though.

With older movies you still end up having to put an asterisk though, which is why I never understand when people clutch the "inflation adjustment" aspect so tightly. Back in the 30's and 40's, movies were the only game in town for the video medium. Theater runs went for YEARS. No home video, no TV competition or repeats, nothing. It's a whole different ballgame so of course movies like Gone With the Wind are gonna have more ticket sales overall.

Whenever they recast, that's gonna be hard to fill, but someone will do a great job after him. Same with Cap.

I find it interesting that a few leftovers stans keep bring up “..... but Aquaman just did a billion and WW 2 will do a billion they going the right direction...” completely ignoring Shazaam.

Just left the theater, multiple peeps getting turned away due to sold out showings and very limited seating. Disney movie previews got them serving everyone else their Endgame.
