Women are raped everyone... it's justified due to paternalism. And the fact that every society is ran by men.... powerful men aren't the loudest defenders of women's rights. Religion, Culture and all those things are just tools to use to do the rapes and get away with them.

I mostly agree, however, that doesn't mean we can't criticize those "tools" when it's appropriate. A law, like the particular form of Sharia one finds in Saudi Arabia and Malaysia, which makes it near-impossible for raped women to find justice, is a ripe target for criticism, even if it's based in one, particular Islamic tradition (and again, I'm aware that not all schools of Islamic jurisprudence are the same.)
the indian cases are very similar, its all equally horrible

My thing is social conditions have produced the same result. I am not some pro islam crusader, in fact the religion needs to updated to the 21st century, we can criticizes. My problem is when we say all people are like that, are blame the scripture. It's paper When we do that, we take the blame off the perp and that is the real shame about all those comments.

That's very true. I'm certainly not suggesting all Muslims or Arab countries are this way. In fact, I posted some study earlier about S. Asia and N. Africa being worse for women than the Middle East. There are also several different schools of Sharia law. Not all of them accept this law that they have in Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, etc. But somehow or another, this particular school of Sharia exists there.

They have fewer reported and convicted rapes than the US, not a lower rape rate. So does India. When you increase access to rape reporting, then naturally the number of reported rapes will increase. Countries that take rape more seriously will naturally have higher rape stats than countries who don't. The data of actual rape in places like Saudi Arabia and the UAE is impossible to get, because things like this ridiculous Sharia law prevent rapes from being counted unless 4 male witnesses can be produced. This gang rape incident in the OP won't show up in any stats or on any studies on the UAE, because it will never be recorded as a rape.
Tell me, do you also believe that Iran has no homosexuals in it just because their official census refuses to recognize them and so no numbers were reported?
