The dude was a professional rugby player before making the switch. :snoop:
Professional Rugby League player. Hardly any REAL competition in that sport. Only played by some Australian states and some parts of UK.

The fact he was able to make the team is very embarrassing for the sport. This would never occur in NBA, Soccer, Baseball or Hockey for example.

He had one job. Field punts. He muffed 3/8 punts against starters and he is one of the best Rugby League players still at a prime age? I have seen Australians defend him all over the web today but everyone who knows the game knows he sucks. The sad part is all those people who bought into the hype train and bought his NFL jersey. What a waste of money that way. He can go back to his NRL and excel now. It will be alright. He wasn't elite enough or skilled enough to make it in the NFL for half a season but that doesn't mean he won't dominate his own sport.

really now?:ohhh:

so an NFL player could just into a NRL team with one off season training?

iv'e said this time after time about Hayne/NFL. Nobody can just jump from sport to sport like this with a smooth transition, its an accomplishment he made the 53 man roster but he's learned now that you can get the boot any time.

ohh, the number one ranked team in League is New Zealand

Negged off the strength of that

Where is all the dudes that overlooked Haynes preseason highlights was against 4th stringers guys who arent in the league. Where's the guys that said the NFL is an easy transition for any pro athlete? Where dey @? :francis:

Don't be too hard on them.
They don't understand the importance of being able to identify and pick up the blitz and ball security in general.
But I do feel for him, got this feeling from the 9ers that they didn't want him at all.

Most definitely. The best NFL wide receiver would dominate Rugby easily, especially on the wings.

There was a time, when Habana couldn't be touched.

The only country in which Rugby League is popular is Australia. Only those who failed in Union in NZ and UK take up League. The most popular team in sport in NZ is clearly Union, no one really cares for League at all

Australia has had a few kickers in the nfl after they retire from afl its good money for them.

Haynes won League Player of the year award in 2014. He was easily one of the best if not the best player at the time of his transfer to NFL.

Sports which require little technical skills(They require some technical skills but isn't that important) like NFL, League and Aussies rules are the sports you hear about people changing too. These sports is where pure athleticism can make up for poor technical skills.

This stuff is unheard of in soccer, basketball, baseball and NHL.

NFL doesn't require much technical skill? Hayne entered into the most plug and play aspects of the game, which is RB and punt returns and was one of the best players in a type of game that has a lot of similarities to football. I'd like to see examples of players from other sports making it in the NFL at positions like cornerback, quarterback, linebacker, the lines and playing at a high level.

Out of all the sports it requires the least.

Not going to argue like I said he was very good especially for that year and a couple years before but he also tied for that medal that year with thurstons who won again next year and has won numerous more times (prob the best) but there is/was alot of other good players aswell darren lock, billy slater, cam smith even israel before he switched to afl all prob deserve to be ranked higher haynes was just smart and left at hes peak. But like I said I do think he was good and very talented.

ive lived in New Zealand for 9 years, the all blacks will always be more popular but they care about league
