It was a good run...he was trying new shyt out. Being paranoid..tapping out....comedy for the Austin character...more backstage interview segments. Him teaming up with Cripple H and Vince just didn't make sense though.
His heel run was fine, its was when he turned back is when the problems started. Awful matches, sheriff austin, disastrous program with Hall, fading popularity...and eventually he ran out on the company, instead of doing a job, and was buried because of it. Total Willy Mays with the mets period, and yes it does affect his standing with the all time greats.

If that 7 months (which weren't really all that terrible at all) disqualify Austin, then all the other GOAT candidates you can think of are DQ'd too, cause I don't recall any of them muhfukkas having 100% perfect careers.
Hogan had a shytty '94-'96 in WCW, which then led to a shytty '99-2000 in WCW as well... and he's been garbage in TNA pretty much since the day he came there. And his last couple of his Hulkamania WWF years were also weak and had heels getting cheered over him. DQ'd?
Bret Hart went to WCW and the most memorable thing he did was wear a metal plate under his jersey. DQ'd?
Rock started off wack for about 9 months... then had an incredible 5 year run that eventually degenerated into "popcorn fart" jokes and the most overused series of catchphrases since Hogan. Sure it was brief and 2002 suffered for it, but DQ'd?

i aint watched this shyt and like 10 years but stone cold is the goatInjuries also cost Austin GOAT status as well. The Rock and Hogan both were top faces and heels. Austin was one of the best faces a good heel but never on the level of The Rock and Hogan. When Hogan got stale in WCW he turned heel at the perfect time and it rejuvenated his character. The Rock could switch from a heel to a face in an instant and it would be great. When Austin got stale they turned him heel and instead of getting better he got worse that's his own words. From 2001 on the Austin character was nothing like the 97-99 one. The run from 97-99 was one of the best ever but u can not be the goat based on a 3 year period u need longevity.
