Going back to when Austin was in high school he never liked about their relationship. Doc wasn't there for him.

I haven't even seen Austin be able to share any fond memories of his father or something.

A roster spot when you're an adult doesn't fix that :francis:
When it pays you millions and sets up your fam for future generations, it does.

Austin wouldn’t be able to provide for his family the way he does/do, without Doc doin what he does.

Think money buys happiness brehs
Not saying it does. Y’all talking as if Doc provided him chump change. He put Austin in position for generational money.

All you fools saying the money don’t matter, are the same ones who played the lottery multiple times this month. That’s how desperate you was to get rich.

I don't play the lottery. All you had left was to project on some random shyt? :russ:

And yes you're literally saying money does buy happiness. You're in here saying Austin should be happy because of how much money he has because of his dad. No where, at any point, has he disrespected his father on a basketball level.

Everyone upset with Austin is implying he's ungrateful.

There are plenty of professional athlete/coach fathers who's kids have nothing but amazing things to say about them even though they faced the same availability issue Doc did.

The fact Austin makes it clear that he and his father have no relationship is not an indictment on Austin for being an ungrateful child.

It's solely an indictment on Doc not doing what he needed to as a father.

Kids put their parents on a pedestal and you have to do a hell of a lot (or not do a lot) for a kid to take you off of it.

People in here letting all sorts of feelings about Austin Rivers the basketball player and Doc Rivers the basketball coach dictate how they feel about Austin Rivers and Doc Rivers as people.

Be in your kids lives.

Do not substitute money for being a good parent.

I'm not speaking about Rivers family but some of the posts I'm reading here is an indictment of how some men and women are today. You really cannot underestimate the importance of spending time with your kids. Of course if you're a shytty person anyway then it doesn't matter.

Carry on.

Disrespect the man who gave you the athleticism to play in the NBA and the name/status that's keeping yo trash azz in the league brehs

When it pays you millions and sets up your fam for future generations, it does.

Austin wouldn’t be able to provide for his family the way he does/do, without Doc doin what he does.

Why we acting like Austin was this scrub bum and only was picked cause he was doc son, Austin was picked top 10 cause of his abilities, not cause who his pops was.

He was trash on the pels for show, but that’s cause they wanted him to be a leader of the team when he not cut for that role, by the time Austin got to the clippers he was ready to be solid rotational player

Austin isn’t close to being one of the worse players in the league, so I’m not sure why people keep saying this. Jalil okafor still getting contracts and shyt lol.

Stop it man, you out here trying to cape for being a shytty parent.

No I'm not. I'm just not jumping on the "Doc is a shytty parent/ bad guy" bandwagon as quickly as you. There could be a ton of reasons why he wasn't there that you and I don't know. I'm not excusing Doc not being around, but Austin still needs to be grateful for the things Doc did do for him. Especially for the Gene's and athletic ability.

There is no excuse as a father to not make time to be with your kids. Period.
Austin is mad becaues he didn't have a father growing up and has no relationship with him.
He should be angry about that and Doc should be ashamed of himself as a man that he wasn't their for his own kid and has no relationship with him.
