I'd say Carlton is probably one of the strongest non main characters in the history of sitcom.
He could carry a whole episode by himself without Will...Pam,Tommy and Cole couldn't even do that for long...as we saw in season 5.

apparently she was clashing with some of the cast, wanted a pay increase, and broke a clause in her contract (don't get pregnant...when she did they had to rewrite the entire 3rd season...which made things a little crazy for the rest of the show.
