Say what you want about Aunt Viv, the show was Family Matters status at times after she left.

I dare anyone to name 10 Fresh Princes episodes they like and I promised 8/10 came in the first three seasons.

Random outbursts, going off on people, while also being so talented and energetic. Sounds a lot like bipolar or borderline personality disorder to me.

Yeah she was the superior Aunt Viv but the show would not have lasted with her the right move was made and the show was still good just Daphne Maxwell Reid was trash but it wasn't a big deal for overall quality.

Although the show lost that strong black women figure in Aunt Viv, Uncle Phil really pulled the weight and filled that parenting guidance role fantastically.

Uncle Phil did his thing but I think all the kids getting older played a role too.

The first 3 seasons consisted of all their issues taking place in school and/or just in the act of growing up where Phil/Viv were naturally at the center of every resolution. The last 3 seasons they were all young adults and took on situations where their guardians just weren't as pivotal, which mirrors real life as you grow up.
