Wherever nikkas need to be told on
Not sure if this has been posted (and I ain't checking all 500+ pages :mjpls:), I don't know how anyone can take this story seriously after reflecting on what he's saying--check it out:

I could delve deeper into some of the points Bomani Jones made yesterday on the Dan Le Batard Show, about how fundamentally silly this whole Donald Sterling affair sounds when you really listen to what's being said, about how exasperating it is for those of us who see the everyday effects of race to have to deal with the performative sanctimony of those who deny race's continuing impact in all but the most obvious, largely inconsequential situations, or about the collective failure of the NBA, the media, the players, the coaches, and just about everyone else to comprehend, condemn, and take action against the actually harmful things Sterling has done over the years, but instead I think the flamethrower Jones uses is plenty hot enough.

In 10 Minutes, ESPN's Bomani Jones Lays Waste To The Sterling Issue

This shyt is a money move. Nothing else. Once those sponsors started dropping out the NBA realized they had a problem and they had to act. They had to distance themselves from Sterling because he was hurting the NBA brand and potentially hurting everyone's bottom line.

In the immortal words of Kanye, the NBA doesn't care about black people. :yeshrug:

If the NBA cared about black people, something would've happened after the details of that housing discrimination incident came out. But that involved people not named Magic Johnson so it was summarily swept under the rug.

Not many actually care for actually discussing real issues involving race. Anyone who thinks this is a real victory for black people has that wool over their eyes. This is just another way to not address that racism is alive and well in this country.

When you stop and think about it, the whole situation is laughable, embarrassing, and shameful. What a spectacle. :smh:

thread gems.....

needs to be quoted
I agree. People not seeing the forest for the trees. A lot of premature celebrations and pats on the back going on by the players and associates of the league. I guess some of these clippers players done watched Django one too many times..

one of the funniest things about debating this topic with cacs who are hella opinionated on this matter is that they abhor the nba, don't watch any games, don't support it at all. they wear that shyt like a badge of honor too...."I don't understand people who watch the NBA :upsetfavre:". yet they want to make sure they get their 2 cents in about sterling, mayweather possibly becoming an owner, larry johnson, jay z, etc....GTFOH.

What he did was not by choice. He and the owners were COERCED. The players were ready to boycott. Sponsors were bailing. The story had spread globally and beyond the sports world. They simply had no choice. For years they knew this guy. Hell Silver said he was a friend to him for 20 years. They knew about the lawsuits. They knew about the allegations for decades and did NOTHING.

So excuse me for not giving these cacs credit for bailing on Sterling when their whole world was about to crumble.

Just think about it. What if Sterling was a confirmed pedophile and the Commissioner let him back? That wouldn't be right. Dumber things have happened.

You're not wrong about the bolded, to be honest :ld:

Sterling more or less gave the NBA an easy out this time to get rid of him

One of my friends who doesn't even watch the NBA like that just randomly popped up in my groupme chat yesterday on some, "Larry Johnson should be banned too!"

Nobody even responded to dude, and just chalked it up as a confused mixed nikka comment.
