They asked what would be his reaction to players IF they dikk boycott... And he ducked it and basically said, "Well luckily we won't have to deal with that issue because they already said they aren't boycotting"

:pacspit:

He's a real fukk boy, he ducked and dodged every question like that... They asked IF... What would happen IF they did that, and he said, "They aren't going to... So I don't have to answer that question"

fukk - i can't believe the team/coach would already lay down and say don't worry we won't boycott...

So no player is going to make a stand and not play? Not one?

What power are they giving up when the money is being left out of the pockets of everyone all around. That would be Silver's worst nightmare. Can you imagine how pissed advertisers and ABC would be if they had no game to show? You hit people in the pockets to hurt them and this would be that move.

Its not happening though, so who cares.

I see your point... But I'd wait a couple weeks and give them a deadline... That's just me.

Like some players said they been dreaming of a championship THEY WHOLE LIFE....

If you been saving up your money your WHOLE LIFE to move to England, it's been your DREAM since a Kid... You've put in COUNTLESS HOURS preparing for THAT DAY.... Then when you finally move there 28 years later... You learn the King is racist....

You gonna just pack up and move and shatter 28 years you built over a cac saying they don't like you on tape?:sas1:

You gotta remember these nikkas been balling since PRE-K.... They shouldn't give a cac that much goddamn power to SHATTER their dreams... Then they playing right into the devil hands.

It's chess not checkers. Give em a fukking deadline of 4 weeks, congregate with other stars, and then shut shyt down after 4 weeks if they don't budge... The Conference finals / NBA finals is where the Real money's at breh... Nobody aint even watching these round 1 games:sas1:

fukk out of here with that. :camby:

boycotting would accomplish a lot. hit em where they will feel it. in the wallets. here are a few reasons why them NOT playing the game could shake the foundations.

  1. ESPN would be mad cuz no game
  2. fans would be mad cuz they bought tickets to a game that's not happening
  3. silver would be mad cuz it would make him look like an idiot
can't tell them to give up a game check, but it would surely send a message.

What did you want him to say?

First, he probably doesn't know yet what would happen in that situation as there are countless unknown variables. Nevermind the complexity of labor laws and NBA-specific CBA issues to deal with

Second, if he said that nothing would happen he's be responsible for giving players the go ahead to violate their contracts. Contracts with their franchise. Contracts that he has very little control over.

Third, if he said they'd be reprimanded, it would shift the focus of the story entirely and people would be blaming him for that.

So again, how did you want him to answer that hypothetical question?

You are like the opposite of these racists fukks like sterling oh so races shouldn't mix and shyt?(just cuz you said you not against that don't mean shyt nikka stop tryna cop pleas)
:pacspit: fukk OUTTA HERE with that racist crap nikka you in the same bag as these racists fukks spewing yo bullshyt b.
that is NOT what i said.

I'm saying that Doc is coming at this from a COMPLETELY different angle.

and Paul mooney clearly is different since he would have protested.

if doc wants my respect, he'd protest. thats the point.

this!

apart from this being the most effective/powerful way of any progress made on this particular issue.. i can't even see why the players in this instance are unable to see that this move would actually make them legends to be spoken about for generations if they took a legitimate stand..

i mean - hearing Silver say I spoke to Chris paul and he just wants to focus on competition is disappointing if true.
terrible motive

:patrice:you know where Doc RIvers is from right? And i guess going by your rules you don't respect Bill Russell either...

don't matter.

he should be down to protest and nothing less.

I'm not saying he lacks a sense of self, i'm saying that he should be down to support a ZERO TOLERANCE program.

already been discussed in the thread, but:

continue playing the games= owner gets slight/moderate punishment, people talk about this until the next big news story pops up and this is all forgotten, Sterling won't show up at any more playoff games, outta sight outta mind etc.

sit out the games= likely worldwide news coverage (think 1968 black power salute at the Olympics), immediate ramifications for the NBA and sports in general

so no, sitting out is not some hoe shyt, I don't get that logic at all :dahell: continuing to play for this racist piece of shyt is the real hoe move in this case

The players protesting by refusing to play would no doubt be a major statement. Calling it anything less is ignorant.

That said, expecting someone else risk millions of dollars and to violate their contracts isn't particular rational either.

Since they aren't boycotting, why don't you take a stand and stop watching the NBA until Sterling is gone?
