Is 38.5 a good deal for a 2016 A6 3.0 w/ 25K miles?
Is it certified? What options? Is it a Premium Plus or Prestige? For reference there's a loaded 2016 A6 3.0T Prestige Quattro at an Audi dealer up the street from me that's an Audi certified used vehicle with 9k miles. They're asking $51.5k for it.

Anything German is going to be unrealiable at some point. Regardless of what anyone tells you.

In my life I’ve had 2 Japanese cars (Lexus GS350, Infiniti G35c) and 1 German (MB CLS63). Took 7 years for the Infiniti (essentially a Nissan) to give me a $300 problem. The Lexus (essentially a Toyota) was flawless in the 4 years I had it. My CLS had everything go wrong that could go wrong in year 4 from new (I bought it a year old). Air bag suspension. Vacuum problem that not even Mercedes could properly diagnose. Window switch. Etc etc.

A German car will never be as reliable as a Japanese car. Especially a Toyota. German cars are over engineered to a fault. They have bleeding edge technology. There’s more there to break.

But you’re probably never going to get as much driving enjoyment from a Japanese car (arguably). So you have to make the trade off. If you think the S5 is going to be anywhere as cheap to maintain or reliable as your Camry you’re going to be in for a surprise lol.

Do your research. Hit the Audi forums. If there are problems with the 15 you’ll know.
:to: at the bolded. Every source I'm checking is telling me the same thing as that. Are that that much more enjoyable to drive as opposed to Japanese? All the Nissan Maximas in platinum trim under $30,000 have been bought up in the area, so I'm looking at a C class and I saw a listing for a 2014 A8 for $29,000. That thing looks immaculate on the interior. Is it commonplace for an A8 or a C class to develop that many problems that quick? I've been driving a 2001 Toyota Celica for the last ten years and aside from the standard tire and battery changes, I've only had one important change, which was the fan belt. Still runs great at 175,000 miles.

Register at the Audi forum (there’s one big one) and the Mercedes forum (think there are two big ones).

Do you research. Ask about the most common problems with those models. They’ll tell you.

Also see if the dealer or the person selling it to you will let you drive it to a official Audi or MB dealership and have them pull the history and get a full inspection. They are like $100 and worth it.

As long as the person who owned it kept up with maintenance. And you get ahead of having the bad parts replaced and/or maintained you should be good. Cars over 5-7 years old are known quantities. Everyone has an idea of what goes. It’s buying brand new models that fukk you. That’s why leasing is so popular with these cars. No one wants to own them past warranty expiration.

Looking at picking up a 2018 Audi S4 in Black, Prestige edition in the next 3 months. It'll have every option except the cold weather tech because i want the flat bottom steering wheel instead .

This would be my exact interior:

It'll be the first new car i have ever bought my self in my life so its a gift for my hard work. Going to get all the chrome blacked out. Tint the windows just a bit, lower it just a smidge, and ride that bytch forever.

It's not necessary but I wouldn't want the chance of having a car note + paying out of pocket expenses on an Audi. If you got loot then it's not a huge deal but something to think about.
Is audicare worth it on a used car with 30,000 miles on it?

My CPO came with it through 45K so I haven't researched the pros/cons of having it much. If it simply breaks up the recommended maintenance costs of the car into monthly installments over the duration of the deal I'd base the decision on what the cost differences would be with the interest rate included. I was thinking of adding it through 75K but need to research it more myself. I always have all work done at the dealer while a car is under warranty.

Bout to start shopping for a coupe soon, s5 been my favorite looks wise (not sure how everything will play out after test drives) but Audi just hitting for too much cash...I can afford it, but my frugal Bay Area roots be having me question if I really want a car note/lease payment, let alone one hitting for $500+ a month. If I wanna cop used, how far back should I go? 14? 15?
