Anyway, I could never get into Slug. I just dismissed him as an emo White dude who makes hip hop for White-only crowds. Does he make funky shyt or is he just a white boy rapping?

That isn't Slug's fault. It's the copies fault, for having no originality, and they are nowhere near the brilliance of Slug. I don't know if you will like Slug's music or not but Slug and the group as a whole are very dope. What Slug undeniably has is huge amount of poetic value, conceptuality, creativity, and emotionally captivating work. Different strokes for different folks but I fukk with Atmosphere heavy and they are very successful. He is far from an just an emo white dude, he really is a brilliant poetic writer, and artist, he's a dope MC too, he uses his voice and shyt well often. Atmosphere are a very successful group, with a large fan base too. He certainly doesn't make music for just a white only crowd as I fukk with Atmosphere heavy, a song like Yesterday I'd imagine would be relatable to many different types of people. They make music for people who have had some kind of life experience.

Not much funk coming from dude, you can't bump his music like that..but I haven't heard a track from him in a long time. Def has that white sound. I liked some of his under, underground stuff. Few tracks here and there.
If I was forced to name one rapper the undisputed GOAT it would definitely be slug, dude makes renowned rappers like jay and nas seems amateur and uncultivated as artist to the point one would laugh at these two even being considered real goat material to begin with

Slug has throwaway projects that are better than what some people might consider classics from those two, matter fact I would rank his sad clown vol 2 tape right above illmatic, I mean I respect there contributions to the game but lets be serious, the quality of their music doesn't at all match their legacy. I see Jay as a business man more than an actual rapper and I use businessman as a euphemism for sellout and Nas is that dude who dropped a renowned influential classic in the early 90s and has been fumbling around ever since
Hands down the most outlandish statement ever posted on The Coli, and I like Slug.
I haven't really thought of a rating for Slug, I'd imagine somewhere between 30-40 as an estimate to me. Dope MC. There's certainly aspects of artistry he excels at such as poetic value, concepts etc.
What I will say is though Slug is better than A LOT of people people overhype, Atmosphere are actually great and practise a lot of artistry. Even on their songs I'm not as fond on I can often at least respect their artistry.
