T.L.C.
I was so quiet and attentive, like damn he actually got D'angelo, not out of the realm of possibility, then he started making that sandwhich. I'm still sitting there wide eyed thinking to myself, I don't even know D'angelo but I don't think he would ever make such an abomination of a sandwhich ,then he turned around.

I didn't even laugh right away, first I was mad, then I chuckled a little bit and then I just started having this rolling laughter :laff:

Show loses itself in the surreal.
I really don’t understand this argument
I never hear knocks like this about :mjpls: shows
Especially the shows some of you nikkas think are classics
But when black creatives do it
It’s off putting and too much:jbhmm:
It’s one thing to have a valid critique
Black surrealism is the final straw like Dasani Water:skip: :Kd: :dead:

The show started more based in realism. Just wished there was more of that as the show comes to a conclusion.

Rolling Stone just released their list of the Top 100 shows of all time. The list had some real questionable picks. Like, they had Fargo at 84 and Always Sunny at 81. @RennisDeynolds telling these Rolling Stone bozos to shoo away from him and to

They got multiple cartoons on there and not one of them is Archer.

And this is where they placed Atlanta

‘Atlanta’

FX, 2016-PRESENT
ATLANTA -- “The Big Bang” -- Episode 101 (Airs Tuesday, September 6, 10:00 pm e/p) Pictured: (l-r) Keith Standfield as Darius, Donald Glover as Earnest Marks, Brian Tyree Henry as Alfred Miles. CR: Guy D'Alema/FX

GUY D'ALEMA/FX

After years on Community as white America’s favorite Black guy, Donald Glover code-switched to create and star in Atlanta, a show that freely sheds its own identity. One week, it can be a broad comedy about Al (Brian Tyree Henry) suffering the dumbest day of his life in an attempt to get a good haircut; the next, it’s a chilling haunted-house story about racial self-loathing. It can have Al, Earn (Glover), and Darius (LaKeith Stanfield) have surreal adventures in the titular city, and it can send Earn’s ex Van (Zazie Beetz) to Paris to savagely beat up a Frenchman with a stale loaf of bread while supplying a banquet for wealthy cannibals. No show should be able to do so many radically different things as well as Atlanta does routinely.

Sociopaths lack empathy. Earn has shown empathy and understanding throughout the course of the series.

Again, calling him a sociopath after watching the therapy scenes dehumanizes and dismisses the trauma he’s experienced as a black man. Lisa didn’t deserve empathy nor understanding; she was a racist bytch who reveled in making black people’s lives difficult whilst simultaneously lusting after and immersing herself in black culture. While Earn was dealing with physical pain, to the point where he’s hooked up to HEART MONITORS; psychological stress from the prospect of returning to the SOURCE of his years long trauma; and emotional stress from the prospect of taking a job that removes him from his child’s and girlfriend’s lives; Lisa denied him closure, understanding, agency, empathy, and humanity, based off of nothing more than his SKIN COLOR.

LISA was the Sociopath, not Earn. While Earn sought help and counsel from his Therapist, Lisa sought money and false moral support from her vest friend. While Earn sought healing by attempting to travel back to Princeton, Lisa sought fantasy by peeping into the window of an unsuspecting, undressing black male (like he was a Gorilla at a goddamn Zoo and she’s Ann Darrow) Even in the end as Earn admits that he NEEDS to return to therapy; its an admittance of the desire for help and change. Not once did Lisa admit ANY flaws within herself throughout the entirety of the episode. She blamed everyone else. She blamed her friend for not believing in her. She blamed her job for holding her back (which is why she quit at the FIRST opportunity) she was a piece of shyt
going to therapy is to put an end to certain cycles of behaviour you have

Earn decided he needed a nreak from therapy but then does that prank anyway ?

calling him a sociopath in this instance may sound dehumanizing, but theres also such thing as allowing yourself to be a piece of shyt and not taking what you learned and applying it. This is part of the issue of black folks taking therapy. You cant just simpy sign up and talk to someone and continue to do the shyt you do.

first line in chappelle show description

Another art-versus-artist mess. Dave Chappelle’s legacy has unquestionably been tainted by his commitment in recent years to hardcore transphobia.

I do think the 4 year break hurt the steam of the show. With how little screentime everyone gets, you can tell everyone is too big for the show and their schedules are crazy. It's a weird parallel because Earn and Al are successful just like their real-life counterparts (I guess Darius is successful in his own right). I continue to watch even though I think it's time has passed because I know we will never see a show like this again.
