On any dimension you care about, Atlanta the city vs. in-the-perimeter (ITP) Atlanta metro is really no different. That's why this is stupid.

Culturally what's become "Atlanta" to the world has been built mostly by people ITP not just the city. So why would I take issue with people from Decatur or College Park claiming Atlanta?

If you're on the ignorant hood shyt...there are non-Atlanta place ITP that are just as "bad" if not worse than the city.

Extend it a bit and then maybe you have a point with people from Gwinnett or Cobb claiming it. But the question "Where are you from" isn't asked as a clean cut factual Jeopardy question by people who ask you that. Decatur & the city of Atlanta are much more like Queens vs. Brooklyn than NYC vs. Long Island.

Big picture, tribalism has been a magnet of Ls for all people across time. Black people especially need to let it go in all forms.

So if your house is in actually Atlanta, how are you different from someone who lives just outside of Atlanta, like say in East Point? You cooler? Tougher? Understand the struggle more? Even if you in Atlanta everyday but your house ain't in Atlanta, does that mean you not real Atlanta?

amused to see this discussion getting traction. people from here or living here don't really care that much.

if shes smart she'll drop something fire right away to capitalize on the buzz and get her name hot.

and most people i know born and raised in atl city limits moved out city limits for better cost of living or got pushed out the city limits by gentrification a long time ago.

I think the repping Gwinnett stuff happened after the 08 recession because folks from the East Side started moving to Gwinnett in larger numbers. Before that Gwinnett was just Mexicans and rich white folks
Mexicans? It was just middle and upper class whites folks with nikkas in the hood. Then nikkas started moving to the middle and upper class areas. Cacs started leaving, Mexicans and Asians came in mass as well as Asians in Doraville. shyt now diverse af

Decatur and College Park would like to have a word with you.

The so called A Town stomp is the Eastside Stomp

Eastside and College Park/EastPoint (Im not gonna say Southside because Clay Co really never mattered) were always their own world
East side nikkas still dress like Soulja boy in 08

Yeah you really gotta live in the area to understand the intricacies of it, I just tell people out of town that I live in Atlanta because if I start explaining about Stone Mountain, etc they won’t get it

Say where you really from.
How yo spot gon become anything.
When the people there defer to another place.
