Na
whats the funniest part to me is this insistence that llving in Atlanta as a child is what defines your Atlanta citizenship....

like nikkas just cant move there as adults? :ohhh:
When ppl ask you where you from they mean where did you grow up?

If you at least went to high school in a place you can claim it ino

Some nikkas is more strict than that

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
Thread title is funny lolol. But every major city is like this, Im sure. Like KCMO, itsnikkas that was born in Independence, Blue Springs, Raytown, Lee Summit, etc claiming KCMO. Even lame ass Kansas City Kansas repping our colors and shyt. But it dont matter really because the white people about buy all this shyt up, fix the infrastructure and taxes and rent gone go up like crazy to the point where all the nikkas "claiming" KC gone HAVE to move to the outskirts.
Yup. I’m from the DMV and every northern va nikka and southern md nikka wanna say “I’m from DC” to sound hard.

And that’s why this will blow. Because the lingo is what will stick. You not “____________” is going to take off in every city. nikkas gonna be doing remixes and shyt. Watch

Right! When them nikkas holla “noft” Im like :dahell:

I feel like that started in around 2001/2002 from the Meadowcreek/Berkmar (Norcross/Lilburn) kids. That was around when my family moved to Gwinnett and I started hearing people call it “the Nawf”. It’s not North Atlanta at all but the “Eastside” isn’t east Atlanta. Only the “Westside” actually consists of only Atlanta neighborhoods, even though it includes “zone 3” which is geographically south central lol. So the posters above us are right in saying that it’s incredibly nuanced and confusing to people who look at all this from the outside lol.

Like I said in another thread, I’ve lived in Decatur, Atlanta, Stone Mountain, and lithonia as a kid apart from my living in Texas and east NO. When people ask me where I’m from I just say I’m from all over. I can’t even claim my birth city because my parents moved to New Orleans a week after leaving the hospital lol.

When will nikkas evolve...

Culturally your suburbs are the same as the metro area.

This shyt started with our grand parents. It used be some shyt like city nikkas supposed be able to run faster, jump higher, dress better, fight better, etc., than nikkas in the suburbs.

:mjlol: think for a moment...does that really make sense? Just silly nikka shyt always trying to separate from others. Tribalism.

This mentality should've been died out.

Of course the ATL
ATL brehs what’s actually considered Atlanta.

@Atlrocafella

im not sure why she’s recording a video about Atlanta at a place that’s “Atlanta” in name only (she’s in Cobb County) :mjlol: She’s in Smyrna recording a video about Atlanta

As for the whole Atlanta debate, it’s old. Killer Mike once said, if you don’t claim a Zone then you ain’t from my home (Zones 1-6). Then I’ve heard if you live OTP (Outside the Perimeter of Interstate 285) then you don’t live in Atlanta. Now you could legitimately say Metro Atlanta is as far North as Alpharetta, as far West as Douglasville, as far East as Conyers and as far South as Fayetteville

I find that the “Atlanta is full”, “Old Atlanta/New Atlanta”, “You ain’t from Atlanta blah blah blah” crowd have the least invested in the actual success and growth of the city. Shawty rapping sounds like a crab

And BTW, I’m a Crawford Long baby, born in the old Heritage Homes, Zone 4 in dis bia bia, wear Falcons jerseys even if they never win a game

I'm guessing NYC is the only major city where folks on the outskirts know not to claim there from here. Cause Chicago, LA, Miami, Atlanta, Charlotte, etc all have this problem lmao no one from Westchester is saying they're from NYC unless they want to get roasted.

Nahhh DC nikkas are notorious for that territory trippin shyt too. So much so, some of them nikkas will always say some shyt in their social media bios like “From DC…NOT ‘DMV’”, “#DCorNothing”, “Uptown/NE/Soufside…DMV is a sin”, “Real DC nikka! fukk a DMV”:mjlol: They stay thinking MD and VA nikkas be claiming DC whenever we say “DMV” or whatever. I can’t speak for VA but MD nikkas don’t be claiming DC like that, at least not PG County lol. City nikkas stay being pressed thinking we be tryna claim DC or some hood in DC as if we don’t got hoods our damn selves or as if we’re supposed to be ashamed to live around Black wealth. Calling us Meezys and shyt, like damn moe why y’all hating? :russ: Hell it ain’t even like we came up with that term, it was two DC natives on local radio who created the term back in the day :laff:

It’s funny too because PG and DC got a Kush & Kemet relationship and it’s always movement going on between the two and we both share the same damn culture, one’s just more generally suburban in appearance than the other :yeshrug: Hell with how much DC been gentrifying and all these city nikkas moving out here as a result, you would’ve thought they kill the rhetoric but old habits die hard with some of them lol. I got into an argument a few years ago with my ex (she’s from Soufeast) on Twitter during a usual DC vs. MD thread that happens on social media once every year and she was talking she’d move to VA before moving to MD blah blah blah….Fast forward, she’s now living in Capitol Heights here in PG :mjlol: Most Black folks in MD and DC are way too prideful to up and move to VA, so I knew she was wellin during our old argument lol

But yeah tbh, a lot of us MD nikkas usually view DC the way 2Pac viewed New York. Basically “We LOVE DC but fukk DC” :russ:
