where do your morals originate and why do you have them?

for what reasons do you hold dearly to these idealogies? is it because you genuinely feel they are appropriate or simply because they seem to naturally occur within your deepest human psyche

what purpose do they honestly serve in the grand scheme of things? and why do other animals not have them?

my morals are ethical and based on logic.

I hold them because they are just

Who knows what my purpose is.

I think the implication is that without religion we would just be rampant with immorality and chaos because it's in our nature to do these things.

I propose that because of our highly evolved brains we are able to reason that certain things that we COULD do to others we do not do because we would not want that to occur to us. And then within certain people, certain actions hold more weight more than others, hence a person who can kill and be non-chalant about it.

ethical according to who? logically from a athiest or evolutionary point of view it doesnt seem to matter :yeshrug:

just according to what?

purpose....:yeshrug:

naturally we should jus be doing what we need to do to survive and multiply if we are truely just another part of an evolutionary branch of animals

what is chaos to one person is peaceful to another but why is that

if we are really using our reasoning wouldnt it be safe to say we only do certain things infront of people to garuntee our safety but other than that we really dont care to do those things

Like I said, the human brain has a higher level of development. Doing what you want could have dire consequences. Weight options, opportunity costs, etc. is part of that. And this is from a species that's been around 200,000+ years. Humans learn, adapt, just like other species but our level of intelligence is higher in various areas.

Also Socrates over 2000 years ago pretty convincingly argues that morality can not come from God. Either God has reasons for giving moral commands or he doesn't. If he does, then there is a standard of morality independent of God. If not, then morality is completely arbitrary and God just gave us a trivial set of demands that could have been replaced by another set.

go and threaten an animal's baby. That animal is gonna attack because she feels what youre doing is wrong.

All the rest of right and wrong comes down to human complication.

If somebody likes what you're doing, it's right.

If somebody doesn't, it's wrong.

It all really comes down to the way you want to be seen in another person's eyes and how you're programmed to feel about their perception of you.

Which is why even from kids, we tend to sneak and do things our parents don't like. As adults.... still sneaking. But from a whole lot of other people. Even strangers.

For instance, your co-worker is a girl and she stays extra time at work to talk to you because "her man dont listen like you do. We ain't... communicating."

Y'all ain't fukking. Not even touching. You're just talking.

What could be wrong with that?

Nothing.... till your girl or her man or some co-workers make a big deal out of it. And the only reason YOU may feel like it's wrong is because... what if somebody thinks you fukking?

here is the thing though doing "wants" is in itself a product of what a human holds to as moral or so it seems to be anyway otherwise we would only be doing only "needs" because that is the only thing that ever mattered

what "needs" to be done has and always will be the determining factor of the survival of a species according to evolution so from the looks of it this "wanting" is an error in the mammalian human brain

so where does morality come from? does that man have the answer to that?
if we are going to talk about the creator than we shouldnt be limiting the creator of all to human concepts because that wouldnt make sense

the set rules given to humans shouldnt be thrown back at the creator who is beyond human rule

the thing here is i dont think it has alot to do with what that animal thinks is wrong its more based on what it knows is harmful for the continuation of its species as in an outside threat has approached so now she or he is going to kill it to ensure the survival which is more a need

agreed but why are we like that? where does it fit in the natural programming besides some cases of doing it for survival and when it is that why do we call it morals instead of saying "yea man i had to act like i cared about those kids infront of those chicks/cops :whew: gotta make more babies/survive outchea" when clearly according to evolution we are only doing it for that not sainthood because that doesnt exist according to athiesm/evolution

these are good examples of humans having a weird desire of wants

what is the point of worrying about any of that in the name of morals? besides thinking you could end up getting killed what is it about? in the end your spreading your seed or preparing to do so your winning according to evolution/athiesm

Is killing people only bad because god (or whatever deity you believe in) said so? What if he didn't?

What if god said "Thou shalt rape women" - would that make it an ethical thing to do?
