When it comes to the wrestling world.

Rock didn’t surpass Austin and Austin didn’t surpass Rock.

They were both equally the most popular wrestlers in the wrestling business mainstream wise. They were literally 1A and 1B. You couldn’t be wrong with either..

Now if we talking AFTER wrestling then yeah..it’s The Rock obviously.

But let’s not say Austin is washed either. He has a podcast, his tough man “Smoking Skull Challange” show, and he can just chill at home and collect them royality checks from the WWE. Pretty good life if you ask me :obama:
Then they weren't equal breh. :russ:

Rock didn't surpass Austin until 02-03 imo. It was clear Austin was the man every year prior.

Nah...Rock in 1999 was definitely the highest drawing pro wrestler in the industry. Became a icon after a heel run. They were chanting Rocky at WCW PPV main events. Insane.

Rock was the clear #2 to Austin all 1999. It's why the only title shot he got after turning face was vs Taker on a secondary PPV, Why he was feuding with Billy Gunn at Summerslam, and why he was tagging with Mankind.

Stop it.

In their primes, Rock never passed him. Even Vince said in WWE Confidential when he was mad at Austin that Rock "wasn't quite Stone Cold". Can only argue that he passed him in the 2010's which doesn't count imo. Rock isn't Rock without Austin

Yes for 4 months. After Backlash 99...crowd had more Rock signs and he had more crowd chants than anybody in wrestling. They tried to do a tag team run with him..that outgrew Austin and Cripple H..so they ran back to the Rock for the main events. Crowd was clearly cheering for Rock leading to Survivor Series 99 too.

You're lying. Any time that Rock would shoot at Austin he would split the crowd. He was not on Austin's level in 1999.

He did not become the clear cut top guy until 2000 with Austin out. After that you can make an argument either way, Before that and it's just blatant :duck:
