Scorpion wasn't cool to me until MK9.
Back in the day I saw people use Sub Zero a lot more in MK2 and MK3 at the arcade in my area. I remember Sub Zero having a more versatile moveset than Scorpion, also.

The appearance of unmasked Sub-Zero was wack, but that move where he created a body double made of ice to freeze you was dope as fukk. It kind of forced Sub-Zero players to play that version over the masked version.
