I'd say it would only be embarrassing if you played games more hours in a week than you worked and spent time/taking care of/with your family. Basically if you play more than you actually spend keeping your life and livelihood in order. As long as those two are in check, game as long as you fukking want to.
I work a typically 9-5ish office job a week, no weekend and make pretty decent money. Married with two kids (baby daughter & 12 yr. old niece) and mom dukes staying with us for awhile to help with our newborn, to which I spread my time among all of them for 3-4 hours during non-work hours. On average, I may get 2-3 hours of game time in, but it's VERY variable on a day-to-day basis and on seldom occasion, get an hour or so of tv in. Gaming is not only another medium of entertainment for me, but also a stress reliever. And between dealing with this broad range of crazy ass women in my life, if I didn't game in at least some sort of moderation, fighting and killing muhfukkas in these virtual worlds, I just may have to resort to such methods IRL, lol. J/k...or am I?
Bottom line, as long as your hobbies don't consume all important things in your life or isn't the the only "important" thing in you life, no hobby should be looked at as embarrassing regardless of your age. Live and let live and I shall game till the day I die.
