At this point, who will it take getting a max deal for them to fix these contracts?

These idiots shoulda cancelled this season and the next.. fukk the NBA and these overpaid nikkas

Wtf you racist , the gms shouldn't pay players money they don't deserve , you offer joe Johnson the Max of course he will accept. It's like your boss offer a 50, 000 raise of course you take it doesn't make you the bad guy.
They had a lockout to supposedly fix these problems all they really cared about is making money, you can't make players choose Indiana over la , NYC , Miami chicago . You just need a competent front office and most bad teams don't

from what im hearing around the league, NBA players would prefer to have a max contract rather than a deal consisting of lesser money
I heard that Steve nash either takes the Toronto money or he doesn't and signs with a team of his choosing

A few Floors Down from the Daily Grind
I've used this example before, but it's like being in a fantasy football auction draft. Some people jack the prices up so high that you don't feel like overbidding on a player, but sometimes you just have to because the goal is to get your guys. If you let everyone slide by because you didn't wanna overbid, sure you'll get the best of what's left, but that won't win you the league.

Exactly. Its why you'll see someone pay $28 for Tony Romo in an auction draft when hes been nominated in the first 10 picks, then Matt Ryan get's nominated 3/4ths of the way through and goes for $42 because their were 4 teams left with cake who hadn't drafted a QB yet.

Supply and demand...and with a salary floor, you HAVE to pay market rates on SOMEONE.

The fact that a player's never going to choose an Indiana over an LA or NY means that you can be the most competent exec on Earth. If you're in an undesirable location, it won't matter and it'll make you look bad. Meanwhile, as long as my market is attractive, I don't need to be competent to get the best players. Billy King's a perfect example. He sucks at his job and STILL will have Deron Williams and eventually Dwight Howard on the same team. Why? Brooklyn.

Winning a title while doing everything internally is impossible. That's the inherent issue smaller markets face.

My brother's keeper
The solution is to remove the max contract limit all together but maintain the cap structure.

This has been mentioned before but really is the easiest solution.

GMs and more importantly owners have to be smarter and less myopic. Especially now with the luxury tax being so punitive teams can't afford to make bad decisions. You cant' save stupid teams from themselves however there should be some safeguards in place. They should take the amnesty a step further and allow teams to have one amnesty ever 5 years or so. If a teams doesn't use their amnesty they should get some sort of luxury tax credit or trade exception or something along those lines. If a player gets amnestied he shouldn't get all of his money but he should be a UFA instead of having to go through waivers.

Not gonna stop teams from overpaying lesser guys. Beyond that you can't keep the current structure if you eliminate max contracts. You can't have guys making $30 or $40 mil a year with a $58 mil cap and $70 mil luxury tax. I say elminate max salaries and give teams a break when it comes to re-signing guys that they DRAFTED. You can have it so that a guy only counts for $15 mil against the cap but his actually salary is whatever they agree on. That way teams get rewarded for good drafting and you elminate these weak ass sign and trades.

That's the only and logical way this shyt can be fixed.

Ok and you make my point the lockout was pointless they still offering horrible contracts . The nba can't legislate parity the team needs to be ran better teams will choose a promising team look at david west he chose the pacers . Look at kevin love being benched for a bit in Minnesota how does Kahn keep his job
And you know what fukk the tanking let teams do it for the draft pick .

Dudes like jrue holiday and Hibbert get the same contract as Kevin love

This will continue until the NBA gets a hard cap....its the only thing that makes sense

System is so fukked that tanking is the most logical way to success......you get talented players locked into 1-5 million dollar contracts for 4 years.

Salaries being capped makes shyt unfair.....how can the Knicks compete with the heat if Carmelo has the same contract as lebron? Teams with the true stars (durant, bron, rose, dwight, etc) are the only teams who benefit from max salaries
