The critical issue with this is that elections cost money . Money is both an offensive and defensive weapon.

A radical left candidate wont get billionaire and millionaire donations. Furthermore, even left wing billionaires will start superpacs against such a candidate and ensure a moderate wins the ticket.

National Elections arent won by small donations.

I think it showed that it can be done if the candidate works within the two political parties with Bernie Sanders and with some of the grassroots campaigns that popped up afterwards. They didn't lose because of money but due to the DNC actively working against and people (mostly older people) still believing that being a moderate is the only way to beat a Republican

If trump continues to tank the markets, dem leadership will get out of the way. They like the status quo because they benefit from their investments in the companies he's empowering, they benefit from the high cost of housing, they benefit from white supremacy. His policies aren't targeting people in their class and race because hes the same race and part of the same economic class. When their stocks keep tanking, their houses start getting burned down or flooded and they aren't getting money from AIPAC or any other powerful lobbying groups, then they'll get out of the way.

You're right though. Things aren't bad enough yet that the average person becomes radicalized and feel like there's nothing left for them to lose. Maybe 10 more years.

I tried to explain cause and effect and the Muslim woman brought up how her father hates new immigrants cause they got services and hotel rooms.
