In a vaccuum, I'm sure any basketball person would take Durant over Iverson, if only for their respective heights.

But A.I.'s 2001 season is better than anything Durant has accomplished to this point in his career; of course, he still has more than half of his career in front of him.

Ai would still be in the league if he was ever as good as Durante is now. Ai was one of the best scores of all time but relied too much on his quickness once he got old and slower he had nothing else to offer. Plus defensively you were forced to pair him up withan oversized point guard. Durant has the ability to score in spot up situation without getting near basket because he can shoot over his man and his length makes him a difficult matchup defensively. Mismatch ever time he steps on to the court. He'll be a valuable player even when he starts moving like dirk.

A little too early to say. Their both excellent scorers, but I don't like comparing someone who's been in the league for only a few years to someone with a HOF career.

This is true, but a 5'11 shooting guard has to rely on his speed. He doesn't have a pure pg skillset to fall back on, so he had no choice really.

Durrant aint got half the heart.

Thats the one thing AI fans always hang onto :russ:

One player takes 18 shots to score 30 the other 27.
Bingo!

But he's got heart tho :russ:

The only opinion that makes sense thus far in the thread.

AI was great but IMO his stans make too big of a deal with the heart thing. Gary Payton had a lot of heart. John Stiockton had a lot of heart. Hell even Steve Nash's frail ass plays with heart but heart alone wont get you there. You need the balance of skills, smarts, physical gifts and also the mentality.

But even if we were to just compare them year by year thus far. With a all due respect to Allen and all he's done and heart he's shown there is no way I pick him over Durant.

I dont really care for him much but Dwight Howard carried that disfunctional Magics team to the finals. I dont see people hailing him as the messiah like they do AI.

that squad had great perimeter defenders and nothing but outside shooters, if dwight got double teamed you had to worry about turkoglu, lee, pietrus, nelson, redikk, alston, ect from the perimeter, dwight was pretty much unstoppable and when turkoglu ran the point :whew:

ai had aaron mckie jumaine jones and mutumbo as his second options :mjpls:

honestly the 01-04 nets were better then the sixers.
