I feel like Kendrick took what Cole does and does it with more polish, and it's sad for me to say, because I wanted to see an East Coast rapper in that spot

Yeah...this is a whole other argument though. Dudes give J Cole the pass but when Drake does and its 10x better ya'll stay coming with the jokes.![]()
Drake ODs though...it's like he actually believes he is a capable R&B vocalist...![]()
I bet he think his vocal range is on par with Miguel, Trey, Neyo & CBreezy and shyt...the delusion is terrific
Let's not act like Marvin Room isn't the ultimate simp anthem...
No other new school rapper would even put out something soooooooooooooooo soft![]()
Good lyrics will outdo a vocal performance a lot of times.
He's not trying to be better than Miguel or Ne-Yo. Hes a better singer AND songwriter at this point than Chris Brown and Trey though.![]()
Not even...If you are talking singing ability and vocal range ...Drake is similar to a baby locked with two gorillas in phonebooth...
I didn't even bring tha gawd Usher into it![]()
What are you getting at?
Drake isn't going to be the best singer ever, but like I said, his writing alone sets him apart from his peers in the R&B lane and puts him on par with dudes like Miguel, Frank Ocean, and other great songwriters like Ne-Yo, The Dream and Tank. Where you think dude learned to write like that?
And vocally, hes better than Chris Brown and Trey Songz (who DESPERATELY needs some vocal coaching and better A&Rs).

I disagree, Trey craps all over Drake singing wise and it's not even close.
Songwriting is subjective anyway...I wouldn't peg him with those guys though.
I just prefer when he raps...It's what he is good at. I don't mind the hooks and little interjections here and there but when he starts getting into heartbreak Drake mode looking like 808s disgruntled deformed offspring :nah: ...I just can't
I can't
J.Cole just brings a level of nostlagia with his bars and delivery...It's sounds exactly like something you've heard before but better![]()
I still dnt see what was classic about The Warm Up...sht puts me to sleep![]()
HELL no. If we're using the last 2 years as an example, then Trey has SEVERELY fallen off vocally. Dude's vibrato is on some bullshyt.
Songwriting-wise, Drake murks Trey and its not even a question. Trey just gets off on being explicit about every damn thing. shyt appeals to hoodrats.
Depends on what your ears have been conditioned to. If you listen to radio all the time, yeah it will put you to sleep because the production and hooks are "boring."
If anything, the jinx is on The Coli. Cole's sophomore is gonna do numbers like the first.People who The Coli hate that ain't on the prototypical southern image, always do well. From Cole to Wale to K-Dot, they always get it wrong.
Ya'll gotta stop touting album sales as examples of music quality.
Who is still playing these songs man?
Are you still playing Sideline Story?
Where is J Cole getting played? Who is listening? Are people requesting his stuff?
Dudes want to talk about industry plants... no other artist sends my bullshyt meter flying more than J Cole sometimes.
I'm really trying and I just don't see it. Even though i'm not big Kendrick fan, I recognize his fan base.
