If you're gonna play them, don't play them out of order. There's gameplay refinements in each one that makes the previous year's version trash.
Brotherhood (sequel to 2) is my favorite but most seem to like 2 best. The protagonist is awful in 1 (boring as hell with a terrible voice actor) but awesome in 2 and Brotherhood.
