What does she man by "you have to be the same kind of African"?

I assume she's referring to skin color? I.e. if you come from a dark tribe you can't marry someone from a light tribe?

I thought you were Somali?:patrice:I understand you guys have similar issues in regards to you minority group such as this lady.

Somali Faces — “Sometimes I’m treated like a foreigner in my own...

So this is not unfamiliar territory for you because this sickness happens among individuals among your ethnicity as well. This should not be all surprising actually.

For sure, but I think she did a disservice describing how the Sudanese government armed 'people'. They armed a militia to defeat the Fur people while they attended to their battles in Southern Sudan and the Nuba Mountains.

:yeshrug:

I think i told you this before, nearly 25% of the government officials in Khartoum is from "Darfur" and nearly 60% of the military is from the region as well(Darfur). I know you are very intelligent, and you can put two and two together to figure it out. I think i posted this before from this Darfurian person point of view of the situation there, but then again most people here will discount her insights of the situation of the ground due to their own personal biases. As far a Hind video, i think she did a wonderful job trying to address the issue, which was a questionarie series, and not a whole news feed. Hind was basically responding to the question from the letter, and the person that written the letter wanted to understand and know what Northerners really think about the situation in Darfur. In regards to Hind answering the question honestly, she did a wonderful job. In regards to talking about Sudanese politics, if i have the time i may create a thread, again if i have the time. I would say, go to the Sudanese forums, you may get a wealth of information, instead of depending on the western news outlets.

- They may be from Dar Fur but are they actually Fur? Moreover, given the relationship with Af-Ams to the US gov't, we can't say the participation of a persecuted people in a gov't means that there's economy.

The women in the video clearly states how the Fur, Zaghawa and Massalit were discriminated by Arabized peoples.

- Hind may have answered the question honestly, but it doesn't mean she answered the question accurately. The Janjaweed are not a defense militia.

One of Africa's biggest problem (other than the effects of colonialism) is tribalism. They continue to practice it long after it stopped being useful and I fear as long as it remains it going to hold the Continent back for real progress.

Because I am not African and I already have a full plate. Y'all don't need to be worry about a place so far away anyways when y'all got your own problems. You got negroes over here worried about Sudan politics instead of the politicians in their closest vicinity.

I will never forget a shocking documentary I watched about the Janjaweed. I think it was on Al Jazeera.
Link if you can find it, al-Jazeera has posted quite a bit about the "Darfur conflict," especially in regard to the opposition to calling it what it was: a genocide.
