I work in Okinawa so they came with me for a rotation. We didn’t make it to mainland Japan. I technically work everyday while I’m out here so I can’t sneak a trip off the island.

Okinawa is still pretty dope. I’m big daughter went to school out here for the 75 days we were here. We hit the beach every weekend and travel the island to see the sites.

Family loved it. I’m trying to move out here permanently next summer. Got to figure out the visa situation. Japanese don’t want foreigners out here so it tough. Probably start a business under my Wife’s name they we can get on her visa. Got to have 5M yen in your business account to get a year long visa.

It’s worth it though.

Do people from the mainland still consider it expensive to travel to Okinawa?

Good questions. I don’t know. They do enjoy the money though. I saw a boatload of Chinese people when I was staying in Naha. I’d say half the people at the Hilton and doubletree are Chinese.

I live in Chatan now. It’s not real Okinawa. The island is full of about 50k US military, DoD civilians, contractors, and ex pats. Chatan is where most of us live. You go five miles north, south or East, then you’re in Okinawa.

Flights are cheap. I think round trip is $300. Maybe the mainlanders consider the food expensive. But if you from a high COL part of Japan, I’d think it would be the same.

You wife is Japanese? What type of business would you start?

Naw. My Wife is black.

It really doesn’t matter. It would be a front just for the visa. I am going to do a real estate management company for Americans though.

My Wife may open up a small shop to braid hair as well. Most of us are in the Army. We do serve in the Navy, Air Force, and Marines but weren’t are as deep. Okinawa is mostly the other branches so there isn’t too many black children out here, or not as much as if we were near an Army base but there’s still a demand for black hair to be done.

It will be here side hustle whenever I am working. I still want to find a real hustle to make some money but haven’t dug deep into it though. I was thinking selling snack boxes. $50 grab bag/easter bag with the most popular snacks. I still may do it.

A while back before they all became GIGOs. If you mean Joyopolis nah I passed on it to hit up the Gundam Base both are in Diver City though

Real Bout Fatal Fury for the Saturn and Street Fighter 3 (New Gen & 2nd Impact) for Dreamcast at Lazy Potato in DenDen Town. They had a Saturns & Dreamcasts still in box for 180$.

It's not the comfort, or space. It's the monotony of sitting on a plane for a day. I'd start getting claustrophobic and restless.

After this trip I’m reinvigorated to finally conquer this dumbass language. N4 or N3 by the end of the year.

Passed my N5 this summer, going for N4 next (only have tests once a year in the Netherlands). Work for a Japanese company though so talk/write to them daily.

Visiting in April, hoping to get a company trip out of it sooner though.
