Depends how far out of the city you trying to live. 40 - 60 mins it’s like you’re in the US south, but a train will get you to the major city in 60 mins. Okayama is solid example.

Easy, Kojima and Okayama (dope view and Japan’s oldest denim factory is there) were a breeze to get to this time. Get a suica card for your phone so you’re not dealing with dumb ass Europeans who don’t know how a ticket machine work and won’t move.

Just make sure you understand Shinkansen tickets as their websites haven’t been updated since the dot com bubble burst.
