The slave trade route and the claim of the most black slaves in Latin America has been debunked many times before. Many latinos have black ancestry but it doesn’t mean there are numerous black people in physical numbers. Many Hispanics have embraced mixing to decrease black ancestry. Many black Americans have retain more of their black ancestry phenotypically than the average puerto RicAn/dominican. Hence these women are perceived as exotic in the first place.

There are some instances where a “light skinned” black American women can be interchangeable with a mulatta but due to their admixture being of different stock they have a unique blended look to me. Dominicans definitely are on the blacker looking/biracial Hispanic scale, that, I agree with you.
