The Beyonce/MJ shyt is BEYOND ridiculous for a plethora of reasons. There is literally NO comparison and people need to cut the bullshyt out because it’s NEVER gonna happen. MJ was something the music industry will never see again and hadn’t seen before him.

Thought you were gonna stop responding to me

Michael was very talented

And what he accomplished commercially and artistically was groundbreaking and what most artist strive towards

Of course he is the standard

So naturally there will be comparisons

That said, he is not God or was he untouchable

If ppl see Michael in Bey they are entitled to their opinion...not hurting you and it's not some erasure of his legacy lol

Not seeing how its disrespectful to an Aretha or Whitney. They werent known for their visuals and dancing

It's very clear Michael and Tina are her biggest influences...Diana to a lesser extent

MJ is pop music, he is not a God but he certainly is untouchable. I don't care what Beyoncé influences is, she can't match a man who has been a superstar since he was 9 years of age, the infamy that MJ attained will never be duplicated in the modern era simple.

That's who the comparison should be with Diana Ross and Tina or Janet, Beyoncé doesn't even have a well renowned consensus classic album and you want to compare her to MJ? Lmao, you say Alicia Keys fell off but she's produced albums in songs of a minor that shyt on any album Beyoncé has ever produced so you got to let Beyoncé be Beyoncé in this one, she doesn't have a Thriller she doesn't have a Off The Wall, she doesn't even have a Control she is no Jackson!

Dammit even Solange has more critically acclaimed better produced albums, the majority of Beyoncé work is clutter till very recently.

Here we go... with the undermining

And the basing shyt off your own personal opinion, taste lol

Fact is, Beyonce is one of best selling artist of all time. Her tours are incredibly successful

Destiny Child is top 3 in worldwide record sales for girl groups

And like her or not, girl has a Peabody, 24 Grammys

She obviously has grown as an artist, but let's not forget her first solo album won her 5 of those Grammys. Produced a bunch of hits. Is multi platinum

Now let's talk Janets first two solo albums...neither barely charted and were ignored and forgotten about. Again ppl grow

No she isnt Michael. The comparisons dont work on a microlevel. But the parallels are painfully obvious... her beginnings, music, what she means to her fans, her place in pop culture today, the quality of her visuals and the fact she is considered the whole package (exceptional singer AND dancer)

Same as Usher to a certain extent .... At least once upon a time

(Janet or Diana have never been known for their vocals)

But ok...

I agree with most of this.

Beyonce has two classic albums though (Beyonce and Lemonade). Those two albums were definitely game changers and were important albums for two different reasons. Both were critically acclaimed and more so than anything than Solange and Alicia Keys made (I got Alicia over Beyonce personally and think Solange is better artist, but it is what it is).

Both would crush Mary

Maybe Janet, but Mary could possibly beat Mariah:

  1. Real Love
  2. You Remind Me
  3. Reminisce
  4. You Bring Me Joy
  5. I'm Going Down
  6. Be Happy
  7. My Life
  8. Mary Jane
  9. Sweet Thang
  10. Not Gon Cry
  11. Everything
  12. I Can Love You
  13. Seven Days
  14. All That I Can Say
  15. Deep Inside
  16. Family Affair
  17. No More Drama
  18. Be Without You
  19. Enough Cryin
  20. Just Fine
I didn't even include the guest appearances. Mary J. Blige would be hard to beat.

Look. If Beyonce musically has any classic albums it’s Dangerously In Love, or 4. Beyonce might be her only critical classic tho. Rest of that shyt could hit the curb bruh. Lol

Bruh. Her crazy ass fans would bug out if she ain’t play that shyt. Lol. Beyonce career is mad Anthems. So it’s just a bunch more of the same unless she focuses more on her early solo career and Destiny Child shyt. I mean she got shyt like Party which is fire and Drunk In Love. Partition. Bey def got joints.

I’d add 7/11 too, you can get real hype to that song at any type of function or in your whip and I’ll admit, Bey and her backup dancers were looking mad edible in that music video.

Michael is the standard

And assessing the overall impact of who Beyonce is and what she’s doing (i.e. Coachella, Black Is King), she has gotten to a place where it’s the only kind of comparison that really fits

And like you were alluding to, rnb lost a lot of its popularity. So it's actually a testament to her versatility and work ethic that she is still relevant when her peers like Usher and Akeys are still trying to regain their footing

I get some fans can be a turn off

And her music may not appeal to everyone, but that doesnt make her overrated necessarily

I'd argue moreso than anything she is underrated, especially as a vocalist, by th gp

See this is the shyt I be talking about where BeyHive stans be thinking their hero is anywhere near MJ’s or even Prince’s level :mjlol:

Y’all better get through Janet, Mariah, Aretha, Whitney, Diana (Bey’s number 1 idol) or Sade’s level. Hell, she not even touching Minnie Riperton, least not in the vocals department and Bey got a much bigger catalog than her lol.
