Classic RPG/JRPG have been fused with open psuedo world games that have been hit or miss.

Those are the two major ones

Sports games from a graphical standpoint look amazing but developers with the exception of baseball have rested on their laurels for far too long. 2k is guilty of this but they have a pretty fundamentally sound basketball engine. Madden on the other hand lack feature that were available in games that are 12-13 years old.

I think the fighting games are fine

It's more or less those that are stuck in the past that prefer the shoulder to shoulder ... I got next with the quarter on the arcade cabinet with built in sticks over the online experience.

there's like one flight sim left alive and the entire RTS genre evolved into that MOBA trash - total war is and ace combat is more of an arcade game than anything else

at least you get to choose between AAA FPS games, RPGs, and an assortment of fighting games every year. and despite 2k being regurgitated assets year after year, its still a damned good basketball sim

In general its hard to do competitive stuff in this day and age and make it fun. Everyone knows how to get online find whats best and just use it online an people don't want to adapt and get better they want it nerfed and changed.

this happens a lot in single player games too. dudes search online to find the quickest way to the most OP weapon/perk/whatever... and then complain the game is too easy

The Music/Rhythm game genre is practically dead right now. No more Guitar Hero or Rock band worth playing now.

The last Guitar Hero made a good stride in the next direction with the parallel frets. shyt had me stuck in medium mode, how a used to shredding on RB/GH hardest settings with moderate ease.

Series such as Umjammer Lammy and Gitaroo man shoulda had sequels or at least properly calibrated remasters. Good thing I own original copies with a CRT telly....but that's just my weird ass.

Starting since the 90s with Nintendo Sega Sony and now we have Microsoft etc... What genre of gaming has become worst or non existent?

I would say sports games before the PS3 and Xbox 360 era we would have 3 to 4 basketball games to choose from 3 to 4 Football games 2 hockey games more than 3 baseball games.

For me it's rpg's, the evolution has been hit and miss. Final fantasy used to really mean something

I've had the itch to play a good wrestling game for 10 years to no avail. TBH its longer than that because while SVR 2007 was dope it aint fukking with Here Comes The Pain, Shut Your Mouth, or No Mercy. shyts was just pure uncut fun. I hate all this simulation shyt.

I wanna chokeslam bytches off the Smackdown fist then do an elbow drop before pinning them. Also a traditional, linear season mode. Smackdown 2, if not for the long ass load times and skip match simulation screens would be the GOAT of all Season/Career modes, shyt went on for like 19 years and I still hadnt discovered all the cutscenes and scenarios lol.
